Atlanta area dealer is offering $250 over dealer invoice for a loaded GL350; MSRP = $77K+. The car is on order with an expected delivery in late Feb 2011. Should I accept that offer, or will they do better once the car is delivered?

Whatever you agreed upon at the time they ordered the vehicle is what you (and they) should live with. Any incentives from MBNA or MB Credit would be additional.

How is $250 over invoice not acceptable? How much less would they go? A couple hundred bucks one way or another on a $77K vehicle is a non-issue, IMHO.

BTW, if you intended to renegotiate and they didn't accept your new offers, would you back away from the table and leave them with your order? Maybe they don't want a GL350 BlueTech the way you ordered it. If so, they just used up one of their allocations on an undesireable (to them) combo. At $77K, they don't want to have it sitting around waiting for the right buyer.

Just thinking of changing terms after the order is simply not good business. Just think if they did it to you.

I'm just wondering if I should accept that offer, not back out of it.

But didn't you already order the vehicle? You said you did, hence the reaction.

No, I posted that the "...car is on order...". Since it has the options my wife wants, I'm trying to decide do I accept the $250 over dealer invoice now or wait until delivery to see if the dealer will go lower with me there and the car on the ground?.

Sorry if I misunderstood when you said she ordered it.

    Anyway, my original point was:
How isn't $250 over invoice a fair deal?
How much less would it have to be for you to do business with another dealer? $200? $500? $1000?
Do you think your dealer left that much on the table?

    Best,
