Or have you met him recently? Or are you basing your comments purely on what the medias conversations with him?

    Get real.

Get rid of bernie and the guys, obviously you are the messias m8.

People forget that all these teamowners, team principals, drivers are all in a long war against each other. The are humans, they have emotions, they are also different types of people.

And all of them has done something right to be where they are today. So by saying "oh he shouldn´t have said that" means nothing.

Some say what´s on their mind, some don´t.

Some people would like to punch the living crap out of the next reporter asking the same questions over and over. Some take it and just answers..

Compared to other drivers, Hamilton is so laidback, never heard a cocky word from that guy.

I think this ****ed up mentality comes from people here having their heads so far up Enzo Ferraris ass a doctor woul have trouble getting it out.

If he drove for Ferrari none of you would have said these things, none of you.

To be honest, I always liked Hamilton's driving style, but wasn't too fond of him as a person. Unfortunately the image I had of him was biased by the media.

In 2009, while I was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, my 5 year old son wanted an autograph of Hamilton (he already had some from Ickx, Irvine, Merzario, Loeb, Meeke, etc).
Suddenly Lewis appeared, instantly followed by perhaps 200 fans.
I told my son we would try to get someone else's autograph, but when I saw his tears, my heart melted and we walked a bit further down the road where Hamilton was bound to pass. He was again followed by a lot of fans and press, but when he saw my son sitting in my neck (and screaming Lewis, Lewis), he came over to sign my son's cap. He talked 2/3 minutes with us and then set off.
I must say that he made quite an impression on me. Despite the fact that he was almost engulfed by fans, he took his time to chat with us.
I no longer admire him as a driver alone, but also as a human being. Looking at his passes, I think Bernie must be happy with him too

What a lovely story:) I took my son to meet him twice last year, once at GFOS like your self, the other at a dinner and talk. He was a realy realy nice guy. Though i have met him a few times in 08 & 09 and have another talk lined up for this year.
Many on here have always had a problem with him from the very first time they saw his face in F1. Some very sad haters on board. Judging from the nasty/personal coments about Lewis from certain posters on here over the years, they seem to be the kind of people who one would cross the road to avoid.

Actually you are a phenomenal retard! Take a look at the video again. Hamilton is attempting to overtake Kimi at the last minute and pull up outside of him in the pit lane. So that when the light hits green it would be a 3 way drag race to the exit lane.

That is right... "overtaking" attempt on a Red Light! Show casing Hamilton's ignorance of simple driving rules. Phenomenally Retarded Overtaking Attempt!

Woah. Let's take slow down. I think my take was pretty balanced. I wasn't trying to be unfair to anyone. Hamilton is a pretty amiable and laid back guy in the media. He's also said some cocky things, which takes the edge off his likability. It's possible you've never heard any of them--we all don't read the same news. But if you read the F1 news daily, you'd see them. And if you do read the news, then I would think one's affinity for another team might be lubricating their reception-- which everyone is susceptible to.

I have a low tolerance for people who turn blind eyes toward themselves and arrogant mouths towards others. Some do it more than others, but I still cringe when it happens, no matter who does it.

Thanks for the story. Hamilton does treat is fans very well--one of the best in pit-lane. He seems to spend a lot of time with them, even when the TV cameras are off.

    Yep, definitely retarded...

He made a mistake, so what? is that what this thread is about? NO.

Oh really, please direct me to these links m8.

I read alot about F1 and driver´s comments etc and never heard him say a cocky word.

I´ve seen him done some stupid things like lying for the stewards etc but other then that nothing.

I would like to read this if it´s ok.

At first I thought we had a misunderstanding, but now I don't think we did. I interpret the 'oh really, mate' to be rather confrontational. That's fine if it is your prerogative, but I'm not interested in that.

    Here's one link: http://www.planet-f1.com/news/3213/5850810

It's not the only one out here, but epitomizes the regrettable way he says things sometimes.
I wouldn't have faulted him if he said that he 'shocked' Alonso, or 'astonished' the F1 world, or 'did what no rookie has done'. But he didn't 'blow' his team mate away, and would've lost to him if Mosley didn't overrule the Stewards in Hungary and move Alonso back down the grid.

I was just giving my opinion about Hamilton's personality and not denying his obvious talent at the wheel.

Do you really have a problem with someone expressing an opinion different to yours, or do you expect everyone to fall in line with your 'party line' ?

This is a forum, after all, where civilised people are supposed to discuss and exchange opinions.
I didn't know that you wanted to turn it into a Hamilton Fans Club for your benefit ... LOL

I don't like the guy's personality. End of story!
I am not trying to convince you that my opinion is correct, or the best, and I would appreciate the same from you.

The irony is that we're talking about public persona ;)
We often come across in unintended ways, particularly when the civilities are ignored.

It's true that one doesn't have the control or time to come across exactly how they would like in public, and the press can sensationalize comments. In that case, I would think one would pay extra attention to civilities and not ignore them. I don't wish to mire the thread. I just wanted to try and articulate a point that usually isn't handled deftly.

i did not notice anything cocky to be honest. more like confidence.

and by finishing ahead of a two time world champion in his rookie year i would say he's correct.

imo he blew everybody away in his first year despite not winning the title.
he came in with a bang and completely turned everything upside down.

i think people missunderstand him since the points talk for themselves. he knows that he had just as many points as alonso but considering he was a rookie he for sure blew everbody away.

i mean just look att the things he did in his first year. he played with massa and drove like a god from the first race wich you can see in the clip.

i mean who has done that their first rookie year?

Oh, come on! I'm sure we all have opinions on personalities we've never met.

Does that make the opinion any less valid? It's just an opinion after all, and we know what they say "they're like *******s, everyone's got one!....."

    Cheers,
    Ian

yes i know he has an opinion. but sometimes people have an opinion simply because they have already set their mind to it.

it's like religion. you provide evidence in all shapes but still, they believe in a book that's 2.000 years old despite no evidence at all that god exists or that jesus existed.

by thinking like you or william he would also not like senna, schumacher, alonso etc.

there is no logic applied in his opinion at all. it's taken out of the blue, just like ignorant religious people who refuse to see stuff from another angle simply because they have already made up their mind, just like william here.

I have news for you: people do it all the time!!

This conversation is becoming somehow sterile, don't you think?

If you are trying to convince me that I am wrong, you are wasting your time...

Seems the racing can't start soon enough, dissecting perceived personalities is a fruitless exercise.

Yea that´s one big problem with humans. Especially the ones who refuse to change it despite 3 guys telling him that he basically is wrong and that he has taken his opinion right out of the blue.

Your opinion is made up, taken right out of the blue. And since you think you will lose some of your manliness, you refuse to change your opinion. That opinion will follow you to the grave, trust me.

I think it´s downright pathetic. It´s a pretty strange way to live imo. Just base opinions on nothing and never change it simply because you have already set your mind to it.

    I really don´t know..

The message was pretty clear from the beginning but then people crashed the thread in a matter of minutes.

Why? Well Hamilton doesn´t drive for Ferrari so it was quite expected.
