Readers on this forum will probably recognize this car from the Sound of a Dino thread. Yes, this is Peter's ferocious sounding GTS. It has been lowered and provided with modern low profile tires, resulting in that extremely low-slung appearance. A very interesting car with some serious performance modifications.

Beautiful night shots of your car, Peter. The one at the gas station is particularly striking.

In general, I am a purist when it comes to modifications... But this car is different. What a special little Dino!

 

what kind of modifications?

what size rims and tires?

 

The rims are 16", the tires are 225 / 50, considerably smaller in diameter than the stock wheels, effectively gearing the car down. This is probably another reason why the car accelerates so quickly - even apart from the engine modifications.

Engine (what little I know about it): Blueprinted, balanced with lighter, stronger connecting rods (look like Carillos but sleeker), reinforced main journals, special high compresssion pistons, lighter flywheel (I think), special torsional crankshaft damper (no rubber), huge Stratos carburetors with slightly shortened intake trumpets, etc., etc.

Chassis: Shorter, stiffer springs (obviously), and - believe it or not - custom made solid metal suspension bushings! Eliminates all flexing and vagueness, says Peter. I believe it!
Huge, impressive looking brake discs and calipers - as big as on an F 40! Together with the low profile tires and the inherently excellent weight distribution in a Dino, the stopping power is phenomenal, according to Peter. Whenever he drives a stock Dino, it feels as if it has no brakes at all, he says.

Body: Bumpers and bumper supports removed, holes sealed off. Headlight covers installed. Engine decklid and trunk lid of aluminum, custom made but very close to the original shape. The bump on the engine decklid is only slightly higher than stock, thanks to the special intake arrangement.

1) who makes the 16" rims?
2) can i see pictures of the engine and specifically the carbs? what kind are they?
3) did you have the shorter springs custom made?
4) can I see pics of the solid bushings?
5) what size discs ? who makes the brake kit?
6) can I see the trunk lid? I thought all engine lids and front trunk lids were made of aluminum.

I can also build and sell a spare race engine with the gearbox, I have renovated Dino engines since 1985

Willwood brakes taped over. There was a thread about putting wire wheels on and using the Willwoods which are stock units. I asked the author about them & he said the swept area is the same & no real advantage to them. Have you experienced differently?

 

sorry this is NO willwood brakes the brakes was made for this car only......................... and the stopping power is huge, it is split wheels on the car not wire wheel

 

They actually look like modified Tarox calipers. Nice mods

I remember following that car from Rosersberg to Stockholm maybe 10 years ago. Everytime I saw a roundabout ahead, I started looking left and right to spot a little black spot moving away fast. Not seeing one meant that the best bet was to drive right across that roundabout. Best wishes, Kare
