Grand theft auto is grand theft auto. If yer going to steal a car, might as well make it a Ferrari instead of a Toyota.
Tony said DPD refused to process the car. They were there for about 10 minutes. I guess if you're gonna steal a car in Dallas, you don't have much to worry about unless you're caught red-handed.
Per the quote above. I do not post often. I use this sight to learn/diagnose things needed to work on my personal 355. Only reason I knew of the location of the car was because it has been parked next to my job since saturday. I figured the owner would surely get it sunday morning. When I seen the car Monday. I just knew it was stolen and logged in to fchat and had it confirmed. I once had a flat on my 355 coming from a weekend trip and I was about 15 miles from home. I pulled into a 24 hour gas station where I knew the night manager well. I was tired and did not feel like calling a tow company at 2 in the morning. The manager allowed me to leave the car parked near the front entrance where he had visual contact and I had it flat bedded the next day.
how will that impact insurance? no police report or I guess the one he has from Sunday will do? insurance might be the only one that cares to investigate. rates go up for stolen and wrecked verse an at-fault?
This has got to be one of the strangest set of circumstances. I am curious if DPD puts any further effort into the investigation or not. This whole episode needs I nice conclusion with some bars slamming behind some miscreant...
That's my take. They may deny the claim. I'm sure the police reported it missing and found. They just don't see the need to investigate who did it as it looks like a simple joy ride and not a car theft ring. The insurance company though may be very interested in how it happened.... I had my Alfa stolen years ago and that's what happened. It was found 600 miles away in San Francisco after a weekend joyride. As soon as I got my car back, they could care less.
back home now CONFIRMED it is my car. Looks disgusting. I'll snap some shots when I head back over there. Looking for Jonathan Peck's number if anybody has it, call me <removed request of user> I'm searching for my keys to see if the car will even start. Get this the idiot locked the car!
I imagine they will report that the car was recovered and properly identified by its owner. Good question about rates. I'd bet that an at-fault would be an automatic rate increase in most cases, but no idea about stolen and wrecked...
WTF??!! Do you want Stuart Singers number? He'll make it look brand new. Glad you found it. Ferrari's just sitting around do stick out like a sore thumb.
Also, you may be able to get a PI firm to dust the car. If you do that, I and a few others here can tell you where to look for obvious fingerprints. But this will only work if you TOUCH NOTING AT ALL. Cops will generally run them though they may or may not tell you who it is.
Dang, what an interesting turn this has taken since I first read it this morning. Glad you kinda have your car back Tony, minus the thrashing of course. I guess I should start taking the keys oot of the ignition from the cars in the driveway.
