I have no opinion on what actually happened here, but anxpert's point may be the most valuable one in this entire situation: Regardless of what actually happened here, 348Tony probably shouldn't have posted the situation to Fchat. This will live on forever in cyberspace for all to see..............police, insurance investigators maybe even a potential future buyer.

Sorry to hear about this happening, but I'm curious. You know the car is stolen on Sunday afternoon, yet don't visit the forum until this morning to put out an "alert"?

So, last week, on your trip back from OKC in the snow, within a matter of a couple of hours you are on here posting photos of your off-road incident at Sanger.

If I'm rosso subscribed on F-Chat, while I'm on hold with DPD on Sunday afternoon, I'm blowing up every sub-forum on here with alerts.

    But that's just me.

    Good luck sorting this out.

What an interesting thread to follow.

What's even more interesting is seeing how a "conspiracy theory" begins to emerge as the story develops.

    Got my popcorns ready.....:D

G'z there's been some really nice things said here about me since finding my car. We go from sending condolences to me being a snake all in a day huh? Well thanks to all of you begging with you Jerry!

I DRIVE MY CAR EVERY FREAKIN DAY RAIN OR SHINE! I HYRDO PLANED THE CAR A WEEK AGO IN A SNOW STORM AND DODGED A BIG BULLET. I THOUGHT ANOTHER CAR WAS GOING TO HIT ME, END UP IN A DITCH AND WASN'T EVEN STUCK! I WAS LUCKY. YES, THE CAR WAS PERFECT WHEN I HAD IT DETAILED NOT DENT OR SCRATCH NOWHERE! I'VE BEEN SICK WITH THE FLU FOR A WEEK NOW AT HOME FEELING LIKE CRAP (IF YOU WANT A DOCTOR'S NOTE EVERYBODY, I'LL BE HAPPY TO POST ONE!), I DRIVE THE CAR ON SATURDAY TO GET GROCERIES AND RETURNED HOME FOR THE LAST TIME. I DIDN'T SEE THE CAR AGAIN UNTIL THIS EVENING ONCE IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. MY CAR WAS MINT CONDITION UNTIL THIS HAPPENED. DAMN BETTER THAN YOURS WAS JERRY AND I MEAN DAMN BETTER ANYBODY WHO'S SEEN BOTH OF THEM KNOWS THAT TO BE TRUE. MY INSURANCE RATES ARE ALREADY SKYROCKETED TO STUPID LEVELS AND I POSTED ABOUT HOW GRATEFUL I WAS TO GET THE BETTER RATES AND (IF YOU REMEMBER RIGHT I WAS EVEN TALKING ABOUT GOING WITH LIABILITY INSURANCE...HELLLOOOO?), I DON'T NEED THIS SH*T AND I SURE DON'T APPRECIATE A BUNCH OF GUYS SUPPOSED TO BE MY BROTHERS IN THE "WE GOT YOUR BACK COMMUNITY ATTACKING MY CHARACTER LIKE YOU HAVE! IT'S UNFAIR, IT'S RUDE, AND I'M PISSED ABOUT IT! YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY I DIDN'T POST SOONER, BECAUSE OF THIS! I REMEMBERED WHEN I WRECKED JERRY'S HOW A FEW PEOPLE WENT OFF THE DEEP END ON ME AND HARPED. IT DIDN'T FEEL GOOD. BUT I DECIDED LATE LAST NIGHT I NEEDED TO POST IT ANYWAY AND AS IT TURNS OUT, IT'S A GOOD THING I DID OR HOW WOULD I HAVE GOT THE CAR BACK? DPD SURE AS HELL DID NOTHING TO HELP INCLUDING FINGER PRINTING IT! AND FOR ALL THOSE CUTE COMMENTS ABOUT THE KEYS, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN CARS CAN HAVE MORE THAN ONE SET! AND FOR ALL OF YOU WHO JUST CAN'T SEEM TO HELP YOURSELF, IT'S BAD ENOUGH TO HAVE THE LUCK OF DEALING WITH ALL THIS CRAP, WITHOUT A BUNCH A PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO BE MY FRIENDS TURN ME FROM VICTIM TO VILLAN WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF POSTING THE CARS WHEREABOUTS. YOU HAVE THESE THOUGHTS, YOU CAN SLURP MY BUTT!

For whatever it's worth, glad to see you have your car back. At the end of the day, there is a limited number of friends between each other, and I believe those friends spoke up on your behalf. Do realize that as a community the alert went out and you got thousands of views, some good some bad but in general the community worked as a quasi " Amber Alert ". While I do not mean to compare a car with an actual person the alert worked. Each member / participant may have a distinct view or opinion but in general we rallied to the call. Once you've had time to read the whole thread, critique it from a chat member's perspective you may understand the skepticism. I don't believe you to be a victim or a villain, but then again I'm not into slurping butts either. Best of Luck !

Everyone gets the benefit of the doubt.

On the other hand, it's easy to speculate when there are so many abnormalities, given the circumstances. Not saying that weird things don't happen but if an objective observer takes a step back he finds:

A car stolen from a closed garage.

Since the car was hidden from view it was not a casual spur of the moment theft.

Since the car appears to not have been started in the garage it would take at least two thieves.

The car is found a day later damaged (front and rear bumper) and abandoned but with the doors locked.

Option A is that at least two people with knowledge of the car took the trouble to enter a closed garage, got lucky to find the key in the ignition, push it out of the garage and a distance where it couldn't be heard started and then took it for a joy ride that ended in a crash that damaged the front AND rear bumper. They then drove the car into an area of low repute, locked it, took the keys and left.

Option A is very lucky, indeed.

I think if he were to scam the insurance company, the car would have been more seriously crashed. Doesn't sound too serious, and joy-riders might actually be considerate enough to lock the car after wrecking it. Some people are just incredibly unlucky. I know two people well enough to know that luck and foresight just isn't in their cards, maybe Tony is another. Can we see pics of your car Tony?

The police originally would not come out until Tony confirmed it was his car? The police would not process/fingerprint the car once it was found to be stolen? These two issues don't make sense and need to be brought to the attention of a supervisor within that department ASAP!!!

The police either know something that we don't and that is the reason why these things were not done or they are the sorriest bunch of officers I have ever heard of.

Far too many conincidences here for me to bite. Too much to explain but if you read this guys misadventures in the past when he wrote off the other 348 and 2 days previous to this one being "stolen"(keys left in) he lost it in a ditch but of course no damage. Anyone ever seen a low sitting Ferrari go into a ditch and dig up that much grass(look at the pics in his other thread) and come out unscathed? Come on man, who do you think your kidding? This guy is using F-chat as a way to have found the car before someone really did some damage to it. Of course this is just my opinion but I was not hatched yesterday. ;)

I wish that was the case, but as a former prosecutor in a big city, I can tell you that none of this is really surprising. Sometimes it is about lazy police, other times its a situation of time and resources. With budget cuts just about everywhere, some big cities are having to reserve their limited resources and staff for more serious cases.

I am not directing the following comment at you, but, generally speaking, it is unfair to Tony to be suspicious of him simply because the police did or did not do what you would expect them to in a given situation.

Dallas PD doesn't care about stolen cars. Several years back Fchatters watched an abandoned and wrecked 328 in a mall parking lot for days, and the cops didn't care at all.

Tony - not judging you one way or the other but unfortunately the merits of this story will leave people suspicious. Your 2 previous Ferrari mishaps don't help.

I remember thinking at the time of the Jon Benet Ramsey story that it really looks like the parents were responsible because there appeared to be no other reasonable explanation. Unfortunately for the parents is that if they were innocent, they not only had to deal with the loss of their little girl but being suspects as well.

Very sorry if your car was stolen and thrashed.

Watching an abandoned car on private property versus having a confirmed stolen car on private property are two very different things. We don't care about abandoned vehicles either. We may run the VIN to confirm it is not stolen and then it is up to the property owner to have it removed.... But confirming a stolen car and letting it sit there is unacceptable...

And if no call to a superior officer results, they will continue to not care---People need to get involved, make calls, emails to the Chief, the States Attorney, MEDIA, etc. That is how things get done. No Chief wants to hear from 10 angry citizens that the police don't care about stolen cars or other crimes. His butt would be out of a job around here ....
