Don't post them here. Those with suspicious minds will not accept anything that doesn't support their pet theories, so there's really no point.
I think it's really obvious the Garage Door crew, or someone they told "keys are IN it!!!!" is to blame, they rolled it in neutral for a distance then were GONE to go get strippers!!!!
Wow. Wow. Not sure what is more amazing. The story, or the reaction. Lot's of support... Not. Tony, glad you got the car back, but very sorry for the damage and hassle. Why is it that everyone has let the garage door repair people go? C'mon. You had guys in there that knew the car was there, knew the keys were in it, and knew the door was broken? And people really think they did NOT have anything to do with this? Puh-leese! Leaving the keys in it with a busted door wasn't the smartest thing, but I've sure done dumber stuff. Live and learn.
From an LE stand point, it is almost too obvious. Would we question them? Sure. But they are the obvious choice which in and of itself is telling. Look at it this way: if they were smart enough to notice tubi straight pipes then they were smart enough to know they would be the main suspects. If you're that good, that is not the car you take.
Worth repeating... 20 minutes before starting this thread,... but according to the opening post in this thread after Tony new his car "stolen"... this was posted: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140215388&postcount=18 Seems awefully cheerful for someone devastated...
That is an interesting way of saying "if you are suspicious of anything, you are wrong." Glad you are not a judge.
I wouldn't do that. Out of respect for Tony, if/when he wants to post pics, we'll let that be his decision.
guess what guys..if he wrecked the car as you seem to assume then had the car stolen and "wrecked" what would he gain by finding it? he will still have a deductible to pay either way...collision is collision it doesnt matter if it was him that did it or not? a claim is a claim unless it is a comp claim by act of God! so he would gain nothing by doing this except maybe a shot at a fraud claim and jail time!! i dont see why TONY would do this as it gains him nothing...now if the car disappeared never to be found...well that would have benn different i chose to say yes it sounds crazy but put some faith in people...It cost US nothing either way... judgemnental people areusually hypocrits and guilty of some wrong themselves....those who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones.
You know, I think it's possible that some of you Tubi/straight pipe enthusiasts might be a touch oblivious to the intense dislike that some of your own neighbors may have for you.
i myself have had some crazy luck like this! i had a 72 lotus europa that was parked in my lot: robbie kneivel drove into it... i sold the car and got a new elise...7 days later another truck smashed into it... insurance wasnt happy but it was all documented and true...then i sold that car bought a lexus sc 430....a week later someone rear ended me! weird shtuff happens.
Well, let's see... *maybe* he wasn't planning to post a thread about his stolen car when he posted this (considering the flogging he took here on this board when he totaled his last 348). Really, people... I think it's time to end the witch hunt and let Tony, his insurance company and the DPD go sort this out.
No, he's saying that some users have already made up their minds and anything presented will be distorted to fit their misconceptions. A judge would throw out hearsay and speculation and only admit facts. Some users here are much too quick to voice uncertainty as accusations. We do that for unknowns who have no track record, but users who have a track record and are vouched for by other long time users (Tillman, jmiff348, etc) deserve the benefit of the doubt. It's fine to give someone a bit of a ribbing or even a hard time; but accusations of insurance fraud deserves evidence of substance before being spoken. A lot of users get the benefit of the doubt from mods on the basis of inter-personal references and standing on the board (that included you JR in the virus/card incident). My personal take is that Tony is a good guy.......he posts with a lot of enthusiasm and if he was "up to something" that would not be the case, IMO....true scemers run silent and deep.. Just rotten luck....that said, sometimes you 'make" your luck, and a few of his misteps might have been avoided...even traveling in the heavy weather...pull into a Truck Stop or safe haven and chill...or warm up, I mean.... When I myself hit these times when everything seems to "turn to &%^^&!" the best thing to do is slow down, take a deep breath, and try to downshift a few gears. There's no rule that says you have to live WFO, and there's often a real tab when we forget that fact.
From the sound of things, the only thing DPD is willing to sort out is glazed vs chocolate vs maple vs jelly-filled, round vs bar.
Like Simon said earlier, that's quite a lot of enthusiasm for a car that had been missing for 2 days.
I agree. But that is not what he (Tillman) said. Do we not all have suspicious minds from time to time? Are we always wrong when we do?
There is always something to be learned on Fchat and this thread is no different. Like -- don't leave your keys in the car. But beyond that, there are two more sides to this story. One group wants to blindly follow a fellow Fchatter in a rather remarkable story because they trust and believe him. And, that's admirable. That's what friends do. The other group wants to find out the truth because the facts seem stranger than fiction. They don't want to be duped and they don't want to be a part of a fraud. And, that's admirable too. That's what good citizens do. But, for one group to admonish the other is wrong. You can't blame someone for following a friend and you can't blame someone for questioning the facts. To me, that's the biggest injustice I've seen so far. We have two sides who simply cannot understand where the other is coming from and its causing friction and distrust between them.
