Hi guys I just moved to california from china as an international student. I wanna buy a new 458 italia, but both dealers in my area told me the wait would be around a year. I really dont wanna wait for a year just for a car. Is there any other way of buying a brand new ferrari without the wait here in cali? cos in china we just go to a car show a day before its opening and buy cars there when we need to cos the waitlist there is just insanely crazy. i dont know if its the same here. anyone know? if not then is there alternative ways of buying one without the wait?

i think those are all used cars tho.. i saw 2 458s in the dealer in my area too. they were both second hand tho. although they were beautiful cars and one of them actually blew my mind cos it has almost exactly the options i wanted on a 458. im not used to driving used cars so i really wanna find one thats brand new. red/yellow would work

It's a terrible idea to have an exotic as a student, trust me, I know.

    If you MUST..

In regard to finding an untitled car, call the dealers in your area and explain what you want. You will inevitably have to wait awhile for one to show up, perhaps someone will back out from their order. As the 458 is relatively new, there are many people waiting for one and untitled cars don't sit around for long. A deposit helps to show that you are serious and dealers will be willing to put you on their standby list.

Oh, I know what you mean about driving used cars. Some dude might have farted on the driver's seat. What options were you looking for? I'd definitely spec the Ciarlatano package if I were you. Like anything in this world, if you want something bad enough, you will find a way to get it. There are two dealers in NOCA. I'd go to the other one and see what they can do for you.

You've got the right attitude - no sense in buying someone else's leftovers.

The best way to muscle your way to the front of the line, IMHO, is to dangle huge sums of money in front of the dealer's face - $200K on top of MSRP should be enough. No point in skimping out or compromising on the dollar amounts - hit them hard with an offer they can't refuse, I say. Now is the time to assert yourself, especially since we're all watching. I, for one, will be sorely disappointed if I find out later that "someone offered a mere $50K over MSRP for a new one, and we turned him down" from one of the local reps.

It's only a matter of how many cubic dollars you want to throw at the venture.

But if you're doing it to get chicks, forget it. Scientific test have shown that most of the attention will come from teenage boys.

Both hubby and I have driven at least 5 or 6 distinctly different Ferraris (and nearly like number of Lambos). No matter which of us is behind the wheel or the venue outside of exotic gatherings, the primary person to notice the car is a teenage boy. They can be on the street, in a vehicle, hanging from a tree, paddling a boat. The reaction is the same. Heads snap around, camera phone comes out, hoots of approval, and the sign to gas it.

Now if you want attention from the ladies, get yourself a sporty pickup with an exhaust that goes, "blub, blub, blub", like a speedboat and prepare to fend off the females. I'm telling you a nice clean white Dakota R/T rocking some country music is like catnip. Windows roll down, the girls shout flirty lines, lots o teasing ensues. Works for hubby, and works for every male friend who has ever borrowed the truck. The oddest thing evar! Aught to rent it out and the date-in-ator!

I think we have consensus ...

Not sure how it figures in the OP question.... but my own 328 GTS experience bears
    this out as well.....

And NO... I'm NOT interested in teenage boys... <yuck icon that we just don't have here>

    Just a fact....
