    Nice post....thanks!!

And truthfully the thread DID serve it's purpose in finding the car.

Tony also said he'd been sick all week and I wonder if he drove it Friday and thought it was Saturday....no idea what medicines he's taking for his flu....

that's not necessarily true. another thing not discussed is... what if the dude was just in the shower or in the bathroom with the fan on, maybe they opened the garage door and puttered off and he didnt hear it because he was soaping up with pantene pro-v.

hell, i have a hard time clearly hearing my phone ring while i'm in the shower, even though its on the counter 5 feet away from me.

there is no way i would be able to hear my loud ass s2k start and take off in that situation.

I understand that actually. Jiddish sometimes is just like bastardized (no offense) German.

    Agreed. Close it.

But before we do, Rob. Can we get a count of all the new FChat users thanks to this thread???

(sorry but) Another completely silly argument. Did you ever see the Sound of Music? If not the Van Trapp family pushed the car out the driveway as to not alert the Nazis they were leaving. It was filmed in 1965. Ever watched Happy Days? Remember the kids pushing the cars in the drive to not wake up the parent? (and on and on and on)

Be real. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to think to push the car (any car) away as to not alert the owner. I bet as a teenager you coasted the car in the drive as quite to not wake your parents. That didn't make you a professional car thief.

traffic is only up 10% and registrations are about 50 a day now instead of the usual 35. A few hundred more guests logged on than usual though. with all the stuff happening on FerrariChat.com even threads like this aren't that significant to the big picture.

We are close or past the point of going in circles, at this time with no new information coming out I agree there is not much good with an open thread. So I am putting that on the table, let me know soon if you disagree with closing for now.

    Absolutely.

I talked to Tony and he said sometimes he talks tongue and cheek in his posts in that he likes to give everyone a good story and pull people in... The Saturday timeline problem might be that he wasn't giving too much thought to timeline and was simply spouting to get his story out. Timing was really irrelevant until someone brings it up and all the sudden doubt is cast... Once you go into defense mode with a mountain of armchair detectives at your throat it gets pretty hard to keep your head and get your story out quietly and clearly.

There's got to be video somewhere that will eventually come out. Let's just count on that to help shed that light.

I'm a newbie so I guess by vote does not count for much but I would say not. Everyone wants to know how the story ends and sooner or later another thread will just be posted with "The Rest of Story" (as Paul Harvey would say) You may as well leave this here so everyone can see how it ends.

I think better than closing a thread, a simple request for people to not show their buttocks to the world should do it. But I'm an optimist.

I agree with closing it. PC and Tony and whoever can make a new one if new info comes out.

Oh, and did the car blog that trashed us ever write you back?

What's to gain from closing it?

We got tons of threads on here where the story run dry and the threads just "die a natural death" by being bumped down into oblivion.

I don't think we have heard the last of this and new facts/angles would only generate new threads. I much rather have everything in one thread than spread out in e.g. 5 threads all over FChat.

Besides: Closing the thread (since it is so rarely done to any thread) would only look suspicious to newbies (like Jalopnik lurkers).

I said in a previous post that I don't believe 348Tony's story. Too many holes. Too much circumstantial evidence.

This is not a court of law. We can believe anything we wish to. In a courtroom Tony would not have to prove his innocence. In this thread he tells us his car was stolen. Holes in the story are pointed out. Tony doesn't fill in the blanks. Only something about slurping or something. He started the thread.

If Tony fills in the blanks, I will be this first to offer an apology for my mistaken opinions.

I'd say that once a thread has started it should be closed only for good cause or let die of old age. I don't see any (further) harm being done by letting this one run its course.

Very good! You bet Yiddish is HEAVY on German. However, I fully admit I have
to resort to Leo Rosten's "Joy of Yiddish" dictionary - I don't rattle most Yiddish
    off the cuff....:D:D

Back on topic: Don't close the thread, for reasons given above. It'll die its own
death soon enough, and if/when new details ever emerge, will get a bump at that time.
    Just my 2 centavos.

I can tell you this, in august I was so sick someone could have stolen my socks and I would not have known it for an entire day.

Also when I was 18 years old I got two speeding tickets in the same damn day from the same LEO at the furthest points of a county and he was coming the other way both times.

Surely the second ticket was at least good for a laugh between you and the cop, no?

No it wasn't. I think he didn't want me taking his daughter out on a date. But then again the guy is infamous as he gave his own mother a ticket, so the story goes.

One thing that is great about this thread that I've noticed... it's brought out a lot of infrequent posters. And, some of you guys are really interesting!

Where the hell have you all been and will you stick around now? I hope so.

I think as long as there is something new out there to discuss, let's discuss it. If someone is bored with this thread all they have to do is not click on it.

If the thread "Return of the F chat Police" in silver can stay alive for over 6 years, and amass over 13,100 posts, this thread can stay open too. It'll die on its own eventually, but closing it just means new ones will start, and then we'll have a dozen threads about the same thing.

FYI, many of the posters in this thread are talking about it in that thread too!! BTW, I love this one...

I agree with you. I don't personally have anything to add but closing this thread will up the weird factor. The deleted thread about the first wrecked 348 is part of the reason that this story had a stink to it.
