I am having hard time believing it, but this is quite interesting. Even more amazing is that the CS had no passenger, but 360 had a passenger in the car as well.

I have had similar experience against much more powerful cars, that got both me and other driver confused.

There are various reasons why a Modena could be outpacing a CS in this very non scientific video. Remember that there is only a relatively small difference between both cars and outright hp and both (standard) cars have the SAME identical torque curve.

    Lets give it a shot;
    1. Starting gear of both cars.
    2. Rev limiter that the CS 'victims' where willing to bounce off (or not) vs the Modena driver
    3. If the CS's have driven few miles they may not be fully run in vs a more leggy Modena.
    4. The Modena may be producing more torque than a CS, due to differences in characteristics of the sports exhaust.
    5. The Modena may be tuned, it could have sports cats vs std.cats on the CS, even sports headers. Torque is very important in this test as it reaching max rpm in gears as well as being in the right gear to take maximum advantage.

Only real way to tell output would be to put the Modena on a dyno and do back to back with the CS's to see whats really going on.

To give you some example the stock CS torque figure I was able to improve on with my sports exhaust by a huge margin. My car in its last dyno was 315ft.pounds of torque vs 275ft.pounds on the standard car. That's quite some advantage in an rolling acceleration test.

Finally I have seen some advanced drivers out pace some less skilled drivers in much lower power cars before by being in the right gears and having quicker response times. Really humbling them. even a few times in a Diesel, well at least for a few seconds anyway ;)

Should have watched the whole vid clip first. Just saw the dyno at the end. As suspected the CS has more hp so its down to driving technique.

Also worth pointing out that the main difference of the CS may be lost on some people but its more to do with driving hard in the twisty stuff. The Modena chassis is too softly setup out of the box, particularly at the rear when pushing on hard into corners.

Interesting points, I didn't know it takes driving skill to drive a car with F1 type of pedal shifter in straightline from a rolling start ^_^

    Lol.

    Certainly good reaction times matter.

+1, Surprising result. I'd still take a CS over a Modena every time.

I'm as big of a Ferrari enthusiast as everyone here (and shopping for a 430 for spring), but I have to admit I smiled a little when the stock 996tt came up and did its thing. Actually it's probably a good thing it was able to pull ahead b/c it looks like otherwise the driver might have smashed into the back of that other car.

Makes me happy about my 996tt (tuned to 525hp) as my first exotic purchase last spring. Still thrilled to death with it and will be keeping it. Great value; BUT of course the Ferrari is another level emotionally, so this is 100% not meant to start a Porsche vs Ferrari argument. IMO, its best just to have both...

Maybe the clutches on both CS cars were already getting there for replacement. Maybe this 360 was a press car?

Yep, that will do quite nicely. :)
