    I posted this in the New Member section, but wanted to post it again here:

    Allow myself to introduce... er, myself. I'm a long-time listener but first-time caller to FerrariChat.com

    I don't own a Ferrari, but am in the market for a sweeeeet 550. So, if any of you ladies or gentlemen would like to part with your beloved Maranello, please reach out to me.

    I do, however, own a Maserati, MB AMG, some new and classic American makes/models and so on. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a car habit and the stablemates are subject to frequent changes.

    Looking forward to meeting and making some new car friends in the St. Louis and SW Florida (Naples) regions. Please let me know of Italian car-related driving and social events in these areas!

    Incidentally, my wife and I enjoy the automobile culture and travel to a variety of events throughout the year. We'll be in Monterey in August for speed week and will attend both the Concorso Italiano and Concours d'Elegance as well as some of the historic races at Laguna Seca.

    Welcome!

    There are a few of us in The Lou that are pretty active on these boards and quite a few that are not. I'm sure the Ferrari guys will chime in with FCA events in the area but the largest and most well known is the European Car Show in June at Plaza Frontenac.

    I am looking forward to meeting all of you.

    A few related questions:

    Do any of you belong to one of the local Italian social clubs? My wife and I are new members of Italiano Piacere, a club recommended to me by my Italian language teacher.

    Are many of you involved in the local SCCA chapter? I understand their main venue, the raceway across the river, went kaput and they are attempting to locate a new one.

    Do any of you also belong to any German automobile clubs? If so, what can you tell me about them? Are they very active?

    Thank you for the welcome.

    No, I have not joined the FCA... forgive me for being a neophyte, but the reason I have not joined is that I do not (yet) own a Ferrari and I am under the impression that membership is only open to F-car owners.

    Am I incorrect?

    I was in the Porsche club once,they are pretty active, you don't need a Ferrari to join the FCA. there will be a cars & coffee Jan 22nd off of Long rd about .25ml south of Chestrfeild airport rd,starts around 10am, Designs in motion will be hosting the event,hope to see ya there..

    I just joined the FCA.

    And, yes, I will plan on attending the event at DIM, although the forecast is calling for more snow Friday evening and into Saturday morning. If the weather is a little too nasty, I will probably bail.

    Does DIM have a nice selection of slot cars? My son and I enjoy slot car racing, so I may bring him along, too.

    I dont think he has slot car's, there is a place at Mill's mall that has slot car's your looking for,if it's still there?

    DIM has the best selection of diecast in the area and probably one of the best in the US. 1/18 is my favorite but I believe they carry other scales too.

    I'm living proof of not having to own an F-car to join the FCA. Welcome from a former St louisan (current KC transplant) - there's a lot of good people in STL, but be careful of Tim, he bites. :D

    And thank you for the heads-up about the Crescent Classic later this year. I just checked the CC website and it has yet to be updated for 2011. But it sounds like a wonderful event and we will definitely try to fit it into our calendars.

    By the way, is anyone else from our area planning on attending speed week in Monterey in August?

    you didn't miss much.. even though, there was more cars that showed up there than some FCA drives during the summer..

    Welcome Infidel!

    Glad to have you on here.

    We would love to see you join the FCA MO Chapter. I belonged for almost two years before buying my F car. I met plenty of people and gain valuable info before I purchased my F car. The 2011 calender is posted at the FCA-Mochapter website. The St. Louis Lotus Lovers club (STALLS) is pretty active with drives and such as well and they are a fun group too.

    I bought my Fcar from Naples Motorsports in FL. Motorcars International has some nice cars in Springfield, MO.

    The guys and gals here are all good people. I haven't met one yet that I don't like.
