You guys need the pub. Maybe it'll do for the 348 what Magnum PI did for the 308. :D

Oh, [email protected] does my hair look????

Be sure to get my good side, the other side has had 400 stitches from a crash (not Tony's fault) and that eye still twitches nervously, on occasion.

    *evil laugh*

The car was clearly cleaned between the spin and the theft.

Tony mentioned that he would get it professionally detailed.

Probable Cause mentioned how very clean the car looked.

Ergo sum, unless Tony cleaned it himself, whoever did the detailing should be able to attest to the condition of the car at the time of detailing.

That would put to rest the discussion of whether the car was damaged in the freeway spin or not.

If the car was undamaged then the entire story tilts in Tony's favor because there would be no motive and all subsequent events are true as a whole, with minor inconsistencies that can be ascribed to "fog of war".

Jon, your post is full of too many assumptions (please don't take it the wrong way, I mean that with all due respect)

How else would probablecause address Tony - he does not know Tony personally, therefore he wouldn't have his home/cell/office phone # to contact him (or any other contact info for that matter).

The car is black, and the damage from what I understand is a fist sized hole in the bumper and some to the front grill - that would be very difficult to see on a black car at night, however even if it was visible how is that damage an indication that the vehicle is stolen? Using that logic, any vehicle being driven that has un-repaired damage to it must be stolen, correct?

How would the DPD know there is a witness with video evidence? Did probablecause contact the DPD to notify them that he has video evidence, and that he is an eye witness to the timeline?

Was it necessarily started in Tony's garage, or within earshot of his home? Or was it pushed a good enough distance away to fire it up and then drive it away?

    No motive?
Fraudulent insurance claims are NOT the main reason for people falsely claiming their car was stolen.

    1. They cause a hit and run accident (often while DUI), so park the car go home and claim their car was stolen.
    2. They're involved in a single car accident while DUI.

Not suggesting that the OP was involved in either one of these. Just illustrating that insurance isn't only possible motive if this was fraudulent.

Probably the start of the gains. I know of a couple of good 348's that went for less. :D

last time i checked there's no reason for him to report something like this to insurance.

say you happened to be a little buzzed and lightly damaged your car, realized you were not in good shape to drive and parked it without getting picked off by cops, then took a cab home.

why would you report it to insurance? considering his past accidents, filing a claim would be absolutely the most idiotic move ever. the increase in premiums/chance of getting dropped and filed in an 'uninsurable' type category is not worth the cost of calling a tow truck to come pick your car up the next morning and fixing the damage to the car without telling a single soul that you had an accident and lucked out by not getting tagged for a DUI and going through $20k worth of legal fees and fines.

Agreed. But the guy in question has made a litany of bad decisions over the past year.

One more bad decision. I've speculated on his reasoning in the other thread.

I am not going to admit to having knowledge of this area of town, BUT, it is actually a Sam's and it is about 1 mile west of the Micky Ds. Night vision cameras would not pick it up the parking lot from there.

That being said, no real point here but if I was Tony I would have PM probablecause and asked to see his video tape- which Tony probably did. I am sure there are some communications going on that we are not aware of.

I was talking about the primary reasons people falsely report their car stolen to the police, not the reasons they report their car stolen to their insurance company.

As someone suggested above, an insurance claim for having a car stolen doesn't necessarily raise your rates (or make you 'uninsurable') like an accident does.

But really, the main point was that getting insurance to cover some prior damage wasn't the only possible motivation, as Kaivball had suggested. So getting confirmation from the detailer that there was no prior damage doesn't mean there is no motive.

I used to work for a company on the far west end of NWHWY. There's some great food over there. Used to go out and watch the drag racing over on Manana Friday nights. There are also some darn good businesses over there other than the obvious strip club.
