    yes, I have to bring up an old mail file to get the contact, dealer in OK who had delivered from factory to a local installer. you will probably need my installer contact too, cool how they bring it in and bolt through foundation too.

    study up on both the security and fire ratings, the better the ratings it gets expensive fast. you end up compromising, but to what point for your budget.

    Still looking, the following sounds familiar...

    http://www.agenglish.com/

    I got a Browning, because I like Browning guns, but the Fort Knox have great reputation and bang for buck Liberty safes are great.

    Most people get a 4-5 foot safe, I recommend 6’ so you have room above your guns for other stuff. If you get a 4-5 foot you end up only able to use half the safe for guns.

    Thanks Paul and Rob. emailed both leads tonight.

    I do want a tall one and USA made only.
    Went to the market hall gun show and my head is still spinning from info overload.
    Browning I heard is one of a very few with a content replacement guarantee.

    When I did my research, Fort Knox safes was the winner.

    I think Liberty safes come with a guarantee. They'll replace it if it gets in a fire, a flood, attempted break in, anything.

    I'm really getting into researching this stuff and have found out quite a bit in the last week.
    Starting to lean towards Summit safes which is a group buying consortium which specifies and orders from two US manufacturers. Prosteel the one I am interested in. Prosteel builds and wholesales to many high end Brand name "manufacturers" who turn around and apply their paint job then retail the safe. These safes are the top of the food chain other than English made safes. England being the home of many burglar types apparently.

    10 gauge steel (real steel) is considered to be the minimum for a top quality safe. 3/16" gives protection from everyone but a safe cracker who will not even consider a residential job. 1/4" is considered to be over the top ( A Ferrari ? )

    One feature I like on my safe is the door rack. Problem with any gun safe is no way to stack them and take full advantage of the space without having access problems. You put guns you expect infrequent access in the very back, then work forward. The door rack allows you to have more guns with access. Only minor negatives would be little heavier door and the room on door you have to give up same room inside.

    This has been well documented in Jim Henson's true crime drama The Great Muppet Caper.

    (Which, btw Randy, featured a yellow renault dauphine taxi!)

    Not that I personally have any firearms, but I've been wanting a large safe for quite a while. The big ones are pretty pricey, and to get one taken upstairs is difficult and expensive. Hope you find a decent deal on one, let us know how it turns out.

    I started out thinking 2 grand would set me up just fine. Ah the naive good old days.
    72"x50"x28" or thereabouts is the new plan. They say get it twice as big as you think you need. Makes a nifty coffin for long term planners.

    Narrowed it down to the upcoming model Champion Crown, Summit Denali, or this local custom builder;
    http://www.securityproducts1.com/ (They also build custom vault doors which would go great on a new build home. Next time.)
    All US built Top notch quality.
    All are 3/16" or thicker. Almost double thickness of 10 gauge which I consider the minimum. The Security Products is 1/4" plate. Nutso but kind of neat.
    The Summit would have to be imported from that far off land of Oklahoma.
    Fort Knox, Browning, and Liberty while all great IMO carry a premium for the name/service/resale etc.
    I'm at double $ of what I envisioned. At this rate there will be nothing left to take.

    Clever and "new". Lots of great ideas in the design.
    Bet he sells a bunch. Good for him.

    Change of plan for my goals;
    Its now a used TL30 commercial grade safe or bust.
    A broker told me to wait until after Valentines when some jewelry stores that are clinging on will finally let go putting more used commercial safe inventory in the market.

    PS; The one I really really want is a used TLTR30x6 which I have located but its 1000 miles away. This is near the top of the heap being torch and tool resistant not only on the door but on all 6 sides ( hence the "x6" ) This means resistant to a cutting torch for 30 minutes.
    Think about it. A torch cuts normal plate fairly quickly. All this for the same price as a normal gun safe. And just 6,000 pounds.
    Do I need it ?
    Hell no !
    Do I want it ?
    Hell ya !
