    Hello All!

I am wondering if the 288 GTO was only produced in RED by the factory? I am asking because I collect die cast 1/43 car models and have seen it in yellow, black, white and even a spyder version. Yet I was always under the impression it was only done in red. A plastic model company even did it in Gulf colors for GT racing???? Any thoughts, comments are always appreciated as I will never own a 1:1 scale 288!!!! (sigh)

    Cheers!

As far as I know there was a silver proto type and a yellow pre-production one.

I do believe Chris Evans' does own a white 288- that being said, all his cars are pretty much white ;)

That one is repainted white and not original white.

My understanding is that the prototype was yellow. All the other cars were red. Some have been repainted (including Chris Evans' car and at least one black car that I know)

I think he has sold the 'white' collection of Ferraris.

George, 47649 started life as a red car, just like the other 5 prototypes. Pininfarina painted it yellow later.

There are pics around of a silver one that belongs(ed) to a collector that painted a few f-cars silver and raced them. (Mexican collector?) I think the car was repainted red again (hopefully).

That yellow one was auctionned off just a few years ago iirc.

I saw a white one on the track/hill at Goodwood but no idea of it's originality. Every one I have seen in person (1 at Wynn Ferrari in Vegas and 1 being serviced at FOD) have been red.

FWIW-my records are 25years or so old, but rather detailed..at least 2 others were at one point re-painted in metallic, charcoal-ish grey hues... if memory serves..
