Challenge car doors are already a lot lighter than street version, but they feel like boat anchors compared to GT2 CF doors that weigh next to nothing. I did not weigh my 430GT2 doors when I switched over, but I'd guess easily 15kg saving per door from Challenge.

If you think your CS mirror is light, GT2 mirrors are only about 200g each IIRC. And the mirror stalk is wing shaped to actually give a tiny bit of down force!

I got the Michelotto 430GT2 parts catalog software when I ordered some parts from them, but I don't have permission to distribute/share the software. The front fenders & splitter, middle and rear diffusors are not only CF in material but actually different design from Challenge. The engine, gearbox, and all mechanical bits are completely different too. If you have specific questions about GT2 parts PM me and I'll do my best to answer.

After you look through the differences, then you'll realize why the GT2 spec cost so much more than GT3 spec, which in turn cost more than Challenge spec.

BTW I don't know if any of the mod's I suggested is street legal in your locale.

Greetings, just purchased the " storied " CS at RM Auctions to be used as a model for a driving simulator project, and then utilizing the CS components on my 360 " manual " Spider. I look forward to sharing the process for those interested in the 360 CSS " Challenge Stradale Spider "

I've been following the New Stratos technical work with great interest.

    http://www.new-stratos.com/en/#/article/a7

    What really struck me as a 'quick win' was the adoption of the latest lithuim batteries encased in Carbon Fiber from Braille Batteries. See;
    http://www.braillebattery.com/index.php/

The battery they used is a lithium unit in a carbon casing, with a weight of 4.2kg and a capacity of 84 Ah.

Thats fantastic, my current battery is circa 10.2kg's so this sheds another 6kg's in one foul swoop!

Going to contact them in the week and inquire about suitability. I think it should be good too because essentially the Stratos underpinnings are 430 Scuderia. Need to investigate their technical specs, amper hours, etc.

Yes Prosport kit is very high quality stuff, as an example before painting they used my original factory CS engine lid to get exact measurements for their Rear 'Nulder' option which can be bonded directly onto a normal Modena engine lid to give the aero effect of a rear spoiler.

    Thanks!

I see many similar themes going on with quite a few recent cars. 430 Scuderia's are the perfect 'donor' car for creating a perfect one off creation with such diversity as the New Stratos to Jim's P4/P5C monster! Obviously some people have a lot more 'budget' than myself but the end result is something entirely unique and hopefully a damn sight faster and lighter than the production cars they are based on!

I've found a supplier that has essentially reverse engineered a Braille battery. The battery is 1.8kg with 700CCA's. They are super cool! I've got one in a stripped 996 Porsche "Cup" Car that I'm using as a test vehicle to ensure reliability. If it turns out alright then I'll share with everyone where to buy them :) Or pm me

I think is genuine. He got a flooded CS and made the entire conversion. I think I read it on one of the previous pages of this thread.

I've got almost all genuine parts except when they could be improved on. The stock bumpers and skirts where only manufactured in fibreglass RTM technology (for cost reasons) by Ferrari.

Prosport do a lot of Challenge Racing series cars so if you ask them nicely they can (or at least could) do you 360 Challenge and CS parts in pure dry carbon for super weight savings.

These are a lot more expensive than the normal parts but weigh a lot less. Wherever there are savings to be made in weight I've taken that path. For all you guys considering Prosprt CS parts, they are factory quality, especially if you get a good painter to hand finish you final paint job. These guys really don't compromise on quality.

Expensive yes, prices will come down drastically as battery cars get closer but also consider how much extra it normally costs to convert parts into CF (in order to save weight). Its essentially the same as doing this. If you take the stock 360 led acid battery, its battery mounting, floor spill tray and all bolts and stuff your looking at around 24kg's. This battery is nearly 20kg lighter. To save 20kg's is quite a big saving!

No wonder the New Stratos uses it. If we can get these kinds of batteries at a better price I'm all ears.

Thanks for the remarks. CS is a special car and this project pays homage to that but then carries on where that project left off...

Another relatively cheap weight saving option is to have you flywheel lightened, if you have not already done so.

You can take off IIRC about 5kg weight. This also reduces the rotational inertia a huge amount, which in turn gives you much better engine response.

Thanks SO much for the advice. Well having done a lot of leg work here I've managed to track down an affordable pair of the all carbon superlight doors from a 430GT2. What a result! Collecting them on Saturday ;)

These puppies weigh in at only a kilo each (!!!!). Compare to (14kg each for the stock doors?). Thats quite some saving. Another 26kgs to be banked. I love big weight savings like this. Also collecting lexan rear quarter side windows. Again these weight next to nothing and save 4kgs each side (!). Collectively these doors and lexan rear quarters will save me another 32kgs of weight.

When all of this is done, coupled with the battery weight savings I'm looking at dumping another 40kgs... Oh wow, what a result :)

Another little trick I discovered by chatting to some of the race guys (yet to be dyno proven by me but I'm optimistic) is the 10mm Suction Intake spacer mod.

Thats right you get your CNC machinist to make a 10mm spacer which sits in between the suction intake manifold and the engine.

Result is apparently a healthy gain in torque and additional 10bhp!

Got to try this one out on the dyno!!!
