beautiful car and I have been following since you first anounced the P4/5 "...this summer in August you will see something...". It might seem elementary but have you had any problems with the windshield wiper across such a curved surface? If I remeber correctly during the initial testing of the Enzo the wipers at speed caused a huge difference in downforce across the car? Lastly, best of luck with the car on the track!
She doesn't have Ferrari Shields. She has my Family's Shields (Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus), with the US Colors, Red, White and Blue, on a Yellow Back Ground, the color of the town where her chassis, engine and gearbox etc. were made, and the Torch of The Statue of Liberty which represents NY and the United States. The Shape of Scuderia Shields has been around long before Mr. Ferrari used it for his SF Shields. As an aside so has the Rearing Stallion which first appeared on The City of Stuttgart Shields in 1312 and later on Porsche Shields long before Mr. Ferrari used it. http://www.stuttgart-tourist.de/ENG/city/stadtwappen.htm P 4/5 Competizione wears a Ferrari nose badge because legally that's what she is.
This car is spectacular. I like in carbon fiber finish but in the final scheme will be very pretty. remember NART . I`m Impatient for see in the race!.
Appeared you were wearing the McQueen stopwatch. Love this view of the fender lines below. So elegantly aggressive. >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is the rear wing legal for road use so you can keep it? Also I suppose you will need to raise the ride height a bit, I hope it still looks as good then.
In this country you'll find wings just like that on the back of Hondas and Toyotas all day long - no issue with legality here. The 'Ring requires quite a bit of suspension travel for ideal performance so the cars aren't as low to the ground as they might be if they were set up to race at other tracks. >8^) ER
This is the problem. "4 seat family car" Family car??? Ferrari??? for me, the concept of Ferrari is cars like P4/5 or 458 Italia, 308GTB,330P4 250GTO etc................Sport car. Regards
That is true. The wings are designed nicely around the wheels so it would look less good with a larger gap on top of the tire, that is what I was thinking of.
I was referring to the nose badge I saw in the video. Excuse my English and thanks for the explanation.
Great Video, editing is fantastic! Jim, you've brought a level of excitement back to racing that I think has been missing for quite some time. Thanks for sharing this with us!
I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head. Honestly word's fail me that can truelly express what this project mean's to me as a 'racer at heart' and a car guy. Jim sharing it with us is truelly a humbling experience and something we can share and pass along.
Interesting when you compare it to MM Enzo's rebuild when all of the pictures posted were taken down. Makes me extra grateful for Jim sharing the whole process with us.
When you hit the streets with it, are you going to increase the wheel size? Perhaps run it on 19inches or 20inches like your P4/5? The race wheels look small compared to your wheels on the other car. Of course it's all because of rules, but the streets don't have rules for rim size, so fill us in, if it's decided.
My hope is to keep her as close to as last raced condition when her racing days are over. The Stopwatch I'm using is the one Steve McQueen used in his Movie Le Mans. I like the taller sidewalls - reminds you that they're tires and not rubber bands. Speaking of tires, Jim, so what's the story behind the change to Pirelli?
