That's very nice (as are all your re-colors), but it would only work as a 2-seater. It looks like a 550, in fact.

To have headroom for rear seat passengers, would need to look more like this:

I guess it's like everything, eventually, hopefully, it will go full circle, and people will want at least one model that's really a sportscar, without all the techno and oversized boats some are turning into.

^That looks a million times better. I can't understand why they added that little hump in the back just for extra headroom, it ruins the entire car.

Absolutely unapologetic about it too. He even introduced the first 2+2 at LeMans.

The FF may be attractive in person but the Espada was iconic.

 

The Espada has better styling. They should give pf the sports cars and Bertone the 4 ups.

 

Sure, the photos of the new FF are ugly enough to make my eyes bleed, but maybe it looks better in real life.

Regardless, Ferrari realizes that there are a lot of people out there who want a back seat with adequate room, and that they'll pay a premium if the car has a mystique.

Look at the Porsche Panamera (if your eyes don't bleed).

No, it isn't beautiful, and I doubt I'd want one, but that isn't the test: the test will come when and if Ferrari can sell all they build at or near the MSRP.

Don't bet against them, and don't fault them for wanting to pad their bottom line.

 

It could appeal to new customers if they keep the price competitive,around $300k tops.
Not going to happen though,$400k delivered is more likely....

 

Personally the 458 looked kinda ugly and weird in the photos when I first saw it. Then I went to the unveiling in May and it looked absolutely gorgeous- could that be the case for the FF?

I think the 458 is absolutely gorgeous owing not only to its shape, but also to its configuration - 2 seat, mid-engine sports car.

Don't know if we should expect the FF to gorgeous, maybe just sophisticated and exclusive looking.

I can't think of a single Ferrari that doesn't look better in person. Or one that doesn't become more attractive the longer you look at it.

 

You're saying what is true of all good innovative design. If it's innovative, it has to be somewhat controversial.

Perhaps it will never become mainstream or well liked. But I can tell you that the Testarossa side strakes "cheese graters" (as they were called in a derogatory way at the time) were universally panned when first shown.

Then, they were copied by almost everyone and now people like them.

Happens ALL the time.

 

Beyond that its a matter of nuance. Simplicity is a hallmark of great design but god and the devil live in the details.
The plastic arts exist in three dimensions and there's no way they can be accurately represented in two.

i also love how people on this thread talk about ferrari selling out and being a mass produced car etc... ummm... has anyone looked at 360 production numbers? or how about 430 production numbers. They will probably sell about 10-15% of these FFs compared to the 360-430 numbers (not both combined obviously the number would be about 5-7%)

they produced something unexpected for once. Its not just another v12 2+2... it not a mid engined V8... Thank GOD!

who cares... vote with your pocket book... buy the not for mass consumption 458 with the other 20,000 people who will purchase one. Nothing wrong with that. Its a FANTASTIC car...

This might very well be a fantastic car as well. Something showing some great advancements in Ferraris much like the 612 did when it was introduced.
