Ferrari FF

i couldn't have said it better myself. It was nice to have the choice of the 2+2 and didn't expect a hatchback either. I can satisfy those needs with an Audi A3 or a full on SUV. Ferrari should decide if they want to be something for a few select individuals or something for everyone a la General Motors.

I hear California bells ringing. Most of what has been posted was said when the Cali was in studio photo mode wearing the base wheels in the pictures. Seeing these cars in the flesh does way more for than renderings. Plus, of modern F-cars, not alot of people go ape-shiz for the GT cars like the mid-V8 sports. I think this is par for the course, but really think doing a drive in something with a direct injected V-12 with the dual clutch transmission will change some minds. Drive a 612 Scag back to back with the FF then we will talk about how horrible of a Ferrari it is. JMHO.

BTW, I am more excited about the technological stuff going on, but kudos to PF and Ferrari for the imagination for this car.

 

As I have said before...wait until you see it in the flesh as opposed to a car configurator photo....

The car has real charisma and presence and in terms of technology, sends the others back to the drawing board....

A family Ferrari that has 660 bhp, does 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds in the dry and 7.5 seconds ON the SNOW

I sit comfortably in the back which is an impossibility in the Rapide

im fortunate to have a 2002 Mcoupe in my garage, if the FF is as fun to drive, it will be a great F car, obviously, to me, it looks great!

Im not disappointed by the technology. Ferrari has really caught up and is now a leader in many ways. But the design...while i agree it seems to have presence in those videos, it just doesn't look good to my eyes. Tu en prends une?

 

I just made them up myself. Exaggerated, of course, on the low side to highlight Ferrari's amazing ability to make use of unused capacity on the assembly line. Take the SA Aperta, for example. Was that a specially planned design or did they forecast 80 or so extra chassis in inventory from which to make good use? I was offered one (like others here) which was nice but Ferrari's chop/cut/rebuild speed is a little too good to be something truly special. I hope they sell a million FF's. I don't wish anything but good fortune for Ferrari, but I personally place no value in a wagon from Maranello, regardless of how good/bad it looks.

The costs on the Aperta are gong to be rather less than those on FF since it was, in effect, a modification not a new car. I also assume that with such a model they had a particularly good idea of its market size and decided to make a few less than they could sell.
On a related point, I think the FF, like the new Cali, may be an attempt to sell customers a second Ferrari.

 

They may sell so few they could become instant classic's.

I have an 11 year old boy who spent the weekend racing Ferrari slot cars in the family room - don't tell him this is a Ferrari.

 

It's not meant to be a Ferrari that sets XXX lap time around the XXX. It's a blisteringly fast all purpose/surface/family supercar. The young dreamers can't buy the cars anyway, the family man who wants his entire family to enjoy the passion year round sure can and will

I was slow to warm to the California. I was slightly dissafected. But I have warmed to it. I even see it as being very pretty now.

The GTO serves as a dissapointment because the 599 shape should have been a distant relationship. Much more beauty could have been served up. And should have been. An opportunity got away with that one.

Now this.

I fear this will not wear well. I don't know if I should hope it sells well or doesn't.

I'm down right now.

 

We can analyze and intellectualize this car all we want, one fact remains:

It is ugly.

 

To seriously suggest that a Cali is something they've "warmed up to" more than a GTO suggests a need of a few minutes actually looking or sitting in them next to one another, and certainly a few miles of time actually riding in a real super car...a Cali over a GTO? And really, I'm Santa Claus and the London Bridge is for sale again...

My guess is that this "bread van", apparently a legit 4 seat, 3.7 sec, all wheel drive 12 cyl with 650 hp, would run circles around a Cali, in the rain, sun or at any track or road rally anywhere...as for its looks--I'll say again, along with a few others, I have NO opinion but it seems at least reasonable to wait to see what it looks like in the flesh, as pictures often don't well represent actual lines on today's complex car styling...no matter the brand.

 

Another reason = fail. A Ferrari should be a great escape for man and machine, where the wind, the engine and shifting make the stress of life disappear into the rearview mirror, even if only for a short time. A car where you can take your troubles and hang them on a hook in the garage, get in and continue the relationship with something beautiful and powerful, right where you left off.

Disclaimer: a) By man I mean both man and woman. b) By shifting I mean manual, F1 and DCT.

Not to take anything away from your GTO, which is fine indeed. It's just that my tastes run, admittedly, softer, and to GTs. By that measure this should be my car. It will not be. I want a stock 599. That's enough car for me.

Also, I was effected by seeing a Cali at Cavallino that I took a liking to. It was white with a white windshield surround and a tan interior. I felt the overall impression of the car was attractive. Demure more than powerful.

Style is subjective and I accept that there will be some misses that come with the hits.

I was also very taken with MMs vision of modern GTOs.

Exactly!!! And i never liked the old M coupe styling, but at least it was supposed to be a cute , little wolf in sheeps clothing economy sports coupe...this thing is just ugly!!!!

 

If they remade National Lampoons Vacation again today, Christy Brinkley would be in the FF with all the kids, toys, and luggage -- and she would still look HOT.

 

I agree it is a lot more romantic without the whole family, but that is what the Lusso, Daytona, 550, 599 is for.

The FF is a great escape the year round, snow/rain/dry, plus it's practical for everyday use. Kids/vacation included
