It's kinda like the spotter thread, but here you just share what cool stuff/place you have been to in chicago/suburbs. It can be a restaurant, a museum, a park or whatever..

We went tonight to have diner at Mon Ami Gabi in Lincoln Park and we very much enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere which really wasnt too far off from a real french bistro. We werent rushed to finish our meal or bothered by waiters coming every 5 sec asking if we needed anything else. Great wine.

Not expensive either. I recommend it.

'Bill365' will agree with you, it's one of his favourites! Perhaps we all can meet there for dinner sometime.

P.S. Have you been to Gejas and Iberico?

If you miss Paris, check the Le Bouchon on Damen (corner of Armitage) owned by Jean Claude (also owns La Sardine).

+1 on Kiki's. Great food and service. My wife and I are 29 & 28 and are typically the youngest people in there by 35 yrs. We also enjoy Mon Ami Gabi and Le Sardine, have not been to Le Bouchon but assume it must be quite similar to Le Sardine.

Used to LOVE La Tache in Andersonville, but it went downhill fast and is now closed.

P.S. Restaurant Michael in Winnetka is great for French food as well!

Just went to Mon Ami Gabi last Friday. While the place is nice and serves good food, it is not very authentic and the ambiance is too noisy for my taste.

Le Bouchon is a great place. So is Kikis and Iberico.

My favorite French place is Cyrano on Wells.

I've always loved Tavern on Rush during the summer times.

Smith & Wollensky host wine/liquor dinners which I like doing. Small venue 3-4 course meal paired with different wines usually from the same house.

I've seen a lifetime's worth of small venue concerts over 20 years. Whenever there was nothing going on my friends and I would do "pot luck" at Metro/Avalon/Elbo Room/Lounge Ax. Saw some bad shows, saw a lot of great ones. Never had a bad time.

You can't do this anymore, but Palos Hills used to have some AWESOME toboggan runs. They've closed the runs, but I guess they still let you sled down the other parts of the hill...

I love attending CYC's Race to Mackinac.

As for restaurants, Le Colonial and Gibsons are among my favorites.

    And the Kenetic Playground.

I can remember in the 60's getting high just walking into the place. The essence of 'Mary Jane' was pervasive!!!! :)

Yesterday I went to a Icehogs game. They were playing the Chicago Wolves. I was in Rockford so I was going for the Icehogs but unfortunately they lost. But it still was fun.
