How did your commute home go last night? Mine, not too good. 2 minutes away from my house, I am driving down a straight road with a 40mph speed limit, next thing I know, passenger side is impacted, and I am sent into a spin. Come to a stop, and this is the result. 15-year old with a learner's permit backed out of the driveway, and obviously didn't check oncoming traffic very well...........

Took 1 1/2 hours for the cops to show up!

    Ouch!

Do learner permits require someone else in the car with a valid license?

Hopefully you're okay. Did the Fire Department remove the door for you or did it get knocked off?

Sorry to hear that. There must have been some kind of blind spot for her to not see you and for you not to see that she was pulling out and not going to stop.

Somehow I assumed it was a "she" as well although the OP was gender neutral.

    Hope no one was hurt.

It was a male driver with his dad.

Impact was a complete surprise......1 second I am driving, next second, I am feeling an impact. There was absolutely zero time for any response whatsoever. There are trees blocking that view - very dangerous spot for them.

I thought I was going to wake up sore, but I seem to be fine. Was a little shaken up though.

Yikes! And he was backing up? Must have just shifted into reverse and gunned it!

His dad was very apologetic. He handled the situation properly.

Consider the D.C. area commuters stuck on the GW Parkway for *12 hours* last night.

I'm sure he felt like it was his fault. In hindsight the father probably should have gotten out of the car and checked that the coast was clear rather than assume all was fine, especially if trees were in the way. What a way to start off your driving career?
