On Monday January 17th I had the honor of meeting the Tax Dr at his residence in New Jersey where he opened his beautiful home to me and gave me a glimpse of his amazing stable of cars. Well, it was more than just a glimpse ;)

I informed the Tax Dr of my travels to NJ to visit some family and asked him if it would be possible to meet up for a bit during my stay. I've heard of his generosity towards auto enthusiasts and figured it would be worth a shot to ask. Boy was it ever!

After greeting me at the front door we went down to the see the cars. Walking down the diamond plated steps into the garage was all I needed to see. Right below my feet as I made we descent was the mighty Enzo, all bright and shiny. Sitting nicely on the automatic lift was the yellow 16M. His new GTO was not present but the two in the garage were enough to keep me grinning from ear to ear.

Without any notice he asked me if I've ever started up a Ferrari Enzo before. My ears perked up like a dog on a hunt and said "No :D" with a great big smile. He handed me the key and told me to open the door. After getting a feel for the car in the proper seat I clicked on the race harness, inserted the key into the ignition, made sure the car was in Neutral with the brake applied, turned the key, and hit that big red START button. What happens next cannot be described with words. Basically, for lack of a better phrase, all hell broke loose.

With straight pipes from the cats and a tune giving this monster roughly 800 horsepower the Enzo came to life with the kind of thunder that makes little boys shiver under their bed covers. The garage door was closed too, so you can imagine how loud it was in there. To be honest, I actually jumped a little in the seat when she started up. I knew it would be loud, but I couldn't prepare myself for the noise. Absolute perfection to my senses.

We then went upstairs for a quick tour of the house. The media room was stunning. We watched some Springsteen in concert on the 10 foot movie screen and looked at the magnificent paintings on the walls throughout the house. My brother and I even helped out around the house by changing a light bulb that had blown out.

After some time inside we went back down to get one last look at the cars and just like that I was on my way. I had a truly unforgettable experience and when I do purchase my first Ferrari I hope to open my home and share with anyone just like I experience last week.

I was also given a little present. The Tax Dr handed me a Ferrari made leather business card holder and he gave my brother a key chain of a Ferrari gated shifter ball. A true gentlemen in every sense of the word.

Thank you Rich for everything you did. For welcoming me into your home, showing me your cars, handing me the key to your Enzo and letting me unleash the power, and for providing motivation to work as hard as I can in order to achieve my goals. You, sir, are the man!

Here's a quick YouTube video of the Enzo mayhem shot with an iPhone and some photos I took inside the garage. I hope you enjoyed my experience as much as I did and thank you again to the legendary Tax Dr.

    Peter :)

The look on this young man's face is priceless. I've had the chance to share my Ferrari with others on occasion; it's a big part of the allure of owning one. Makes all the struggle and sacrifice entailed in being able to afford one worth it.

the enzo is by far the nicest car every built in my opinion. i've seen that exact enzo maybe two or three times now but havent heard it running or sat in it. maybe one day. you got lucky meeting him at his house. i've seen the crowd at car shows and you'd have to push and shove just to thank him for bringing the cars. hopefully one day ill catch him at a smaller local car show and get a closer look!

Tax Dr. is the man! A great influence to set goals, work hard, be successful and then share it & keep it real!

Peter- excellent photography! The pictures show off some of the fine details of the cars, as well as the yellow and red color theme in the cars and garage nicely! (I'm not a photographer or artist, but you know what I mean ;) )

Tax Dr....you rock! I might have to take a trip out there this tax season :D. Seriously, though it is great to see such a generous member of the Ferrari community.

Removed muffler and had pipes go directly from the "cats" to tail exhaust...engine has been tweaked.

Hat's off to Tax Dr for his hospitality and sharing the Ferrari spirit with others.

27 years ago I was at Bridgehampton Road Course watching an FCA event. A fellow named Jack Cowley was there with his short nose 275 GTB. He noticed that I was an enthusiast without a Ferrari and asked if I wanted a ride. I rode with him in the next 20 minute session (Red run group). Jack clearly had driving talent and knew his 275. I had a blast. I can honestly say that ride started my obsession with wanting to own a Ferrari. One year following that day at Bridgehampton I took ownership of my 308GTB. Subsequently I probably logged 1000 miles on that track during FCA events. Hat's off to Jack wherever you are, and again, to the Tax Dr for spreading the fever.

Just ask Rich, he'll tell you. PM him if you want, he gets on here pretty regularly, so he'll answer you as soon as he can. I thought I had a pic of the side of it, but I guess I don't, though I'm still looking. If I find it, I'll post it ASAP.

I was lucky enough to meet the Tax Dr at the Gold Coast Concours. To this day one of the most humble men i have ever met and definitely one who makes a lasting impression on anyone he meets. Cheers Tax Dr, hopefully ill be seeing you again soon at another show.

The look on his face when the engine fires is great!

The seed has been planted. It takes many years to sprout, but the fruit is delicious!

    Very cool!
