Okay, I know this is a really crummy-looking PhotoShop, but I think a huge part of the problem is that the FF has the profile of a station wagon. (I know that's not all that's wrong with it; I'll deal with the horse face when I have more time.)

But if the FF were a coupe, a la 599, I think it would be much improved. Consider the profile and not the crummy rendering: ;)

What a silly article!! It's completely wrong based on the current situation and news coming out of Ferrari and Maserati.

First of all project F151 is the FF...
Secondly Montezemolo repeats every other day that they will NEVER make an SUV and I don't think he is that stupid to sign off on that. (Although remember that Lamborghini had one)
Thirdly Marchionne has confirmed less than a month ago that they are building an SUV based on the Jeep platform

As usual if you take an article that is more than 2 years old....it might be completely wrong!

    Personally I am almost giddy.

First because I am one of the few who absolutely LOVE this car.

But now I think there is a real chance that this car will be built, sold, and the price will drop like a rock. At least as fast as 612 prices.

And then I will buy one!

Nice looking but the 599 already exists.

I assume the 599 replacement will be based on the FF, as the 612 and 599 shared platforms.

if so, that photoshop might be a good indicator of what it would look like.

Looking at the 612 and 599 the visual similarities are not strong.
(take that syntax and sentence structure!)

Point being Ferrari already has a 2 seater 12 cylinder GT car in the 599...they didnt need to make another one, which is all that photoshop accomplishes.

    Really ?

take away the proportion difference that comes from one being a full 2+2 and there are lots of similar design elements.

Might as well PS it as a mid-engined spyder while you're at it. ;)
That would look pretty cool too.

The side scallop and the length between the front wheels and the wind screen are major differences as is the headlight treatment.

Those are details. Not major differences, the fact that they both have a side scallop is a similarity..not a difference. Unless you expect all of Ferraris models to look like the same car in different scales.

The major similarities are the front and rear haunches, the way the curve of the hood meets the front bumper. The semi inset tailights.

    These are major stylistic similarities.

The headlights are 458 style and the next Gen 599 will incorporate them.

    Really spot on observation.

The FF and the new 599 will be closely related AND the new 599 will be a coupe. The FF is family or business touring car alternative to a RR or Bentley.

The FF should be different than the new 599 for a variety of reasons -- but a lot of them functional.

There is a current Ferrari motif to be sure but within that context they are rather differently styled.
I will yield to the eye of a pro stylist but I'd never mistake one for the other.

I'm surprised no one has complained yet that this car isn't being sold with a manual.

Sadly that battle's been fought and lost.
Truth is that in a car of its size and output a manual wouldn't be the wisest choice any way.

Isn't there another 2+2 4wd that was built on the 70s?
