Packers-Steelers will be a great Superbowl.

Both have good defenses, with Pittsburg have an edge in that department. GB has a better offense so it will be interesting to see if Rodgers can pick apart the Steelers secondary. Should be a close game.

 

Interesting that Jay Cutler failed to start the second half with the strange knee injury, yet he doesn't remember which play it was. MSN has an article now questioning whether he just quit on the team after playing poorly in the first half.

He better get an MRI tomorrow and come up with some sort of injury to that leg, or else the town rightfully should have his head on a stick.

I have to admit as a Packer fan it was good to see Cutler go to the hated Bears. You just knew at some point he would come apart mentally like a cheap watch.

 

The Steelers & staff will be staying at the Omni Hotel in downtown Panther City, any FChatters planning to make the journey to north Texas?

 

I'm gonna keep an eye on the e-ticket sites & see how much tickets (potentially) drop as the game gets closer. I mean proper seats, not the standing-section or the outdoor gameday passes.

I am curious about what tickets will generally go for in the second-hand/re-sale market nearing game time (as opposed to now or this week), considering the extra standing-section option, the $200 outdoor gameday passes, and Cowboys Stadium being a larger Super Bowl venue than in past (at least 80k+ seats for football).

 

Good luck.. they're expensive. You'll pay at least $2k a ticket for decent seats.

I've only been to one superbowl.. in Tampa to see the Steelers beat the Cardinals. We were a group of 3 and paid about $10k for good seats + good parking + passes to the tailgate party. Great time but I'm not in any hurry to do it again... "been there, done that" sort of thing.

 

Tell you what: I was really impressed with Caleb Hanie.

If that guy gets more reps and studies film better I can see him replacing Cutler, he has a really nice touch on the ball. Yeah, he threw two pics - keep in mind how much he played this season (nil), but he looked good to me. Todd Collins is done in the NFL.

 

Makes sense, this being a rather popular Super Bowl featuring 2 teams w/ strong fanbases & diaspora populations.

Interesting! I also (only) attended that S.B. Though your experience/etc easily trumped mine. I got (2) tix <2 days before the game, for ~$600'ish each from online (about ~$700'ish w/ fees/etc). They were mediocre at-best seats (sideline but very high up). I have family/friends in C. FL so logistics weren't much of an issue. I had a good time all-in-all.

So much for sub-$1k tix for this game in big-D I guess!

At some point in my life, I guess I'd like to have a VIP type of Super Bowl experience w/ passes, guest-listed, pomp & panache`, etc throughout the week. Obviously w/ the Stillers in it!

I recall in recent past that those w/ crazy amount of AmEx points were able to get exceptional S.B. hospitality/amenities along w/ desirable tix.

 

I kinda/sorta agree w/ you. But, still very premature to predict anything. It reminded me of Garret Gilbert in the '10 BCS NCG (Texas vs. 'Bama). Glimmer of greatness in a trying situation. Ultimately time will tell. As much of a d'bag Cutler (seemingly) may be, he's still a formidable pro NFL QB.

 

The $200 "party passes" have become a laughing stock among the locals here. Sorry, I can't even justify standing outside of the game in a parking lot staring at a jumbo-tron screen in questionable weather conditions. For Jerry Jones, it's all about $$ & breaking another attendance record.

 

I think it's the consensus around the nation.

They've been joking about it here since word got out.

It's funny, because it's not even $200, it's $200/ticket and you have to buy a 4 pack = $800.

Unless that changed from what I originally heard?

 

At these kinds of prices I wonder why anyone, regardless of income or how big a fan they are, goes to the Superbowl. I have been a Packer fan most of my life (since moving to Milwaukee at age 10 anyway), but I wouldn't travel to a Superbowl to watch them play if it meant spending a few thousand dollars for the privelege. I can do without the "experience" and just sit back in absolute comfort with anything I want to eat or drink and watch in perfect HD.

The vast majority of actual stadium tickets must be charged to corporate accounts as tax writeoffs and given to important clients.

 

Wow, $3k for nosebleeds is steep. We showed up on game day and paid cash for the tickets in the parking lot outside the stadium. Be careful though.. there are LOTS of counterfeit tickets being sold... they can even fake the holograms these days.

 

I'm trying to get "redzone" to hook me up with a ticket but so far he is doing the moon walk on me !

I thought Hanie looked strong in pre-season too. Watching Todd Collins out there was in the same category as George Plimpton's "Paper Lion".

I've also checked-out http://stubhub.com (last night, after the games). I need to touchbase w/ my ol' WPenn friends & see what was offered to locals / Stillers ticket holders, etc.

I agree w/ Whisky (and others), regardless of means or affluence, this indeed is stupid money! Only way I can ever see myself wanting to deal w/ the traffic, crowds, inconveniences, mediocre accommodations, inflated expenses, et'al would be if I was able to do a week-long luxo' corporate all-inclusive package which included exclusive access, parties, etc in a novel seasonal metro' location (ie. Miami, LA, New Orleans) along w/ obviously awesome seats or suite-access. That's something I'd pay in the thousands. Oh yea, if my team [Stillers] was in it D).

Then again, I guess it comes down to: if you gotta ask how much (and think about it), then you can't afford it!

 

FYI - Stillers season tickets holders are placed into a lottery. If you get them they are 800 face value and seating is random. That is unless your name is Rooney !

 

I still think I'd rather tailgate outside the stadium(s) in Green Bay, Buffalo, Kansas City, Denver, places known for GREAT tailgating.

(but, not in January)

 

Love the Plimpton analogy!!!! Except Pimplton may have been more mobile than Collins!!!

 

Collins may very well go down in history as the only QB to retire with a 'minus' QB rating in his last season.

Maybe Chicago can sign Jaworksi or Aikman or Dilfer out of the press box?
