Actually I'm surprised it has even flappy paddles. An auto gearbox would suffice for this SUV.

I saw the FF yesterday at Ferrari North America. Its a very nice car with versatility. The front is wonderful, the interior fit and finish is beautiful, the technology is significant, but the rear end does take some getting used to...all in all, when you digest it slowly, its another cool Ferrari. And, it IS a Ferrari.

Its not his opinion. Its fact. It is a Ferrari. Its made by Ferrari and has the Prancing Horse on its nose.

it may not be a Ferrari you like, but it is a Ferrari.

I didn't look at the serial number. It was Grigio Silverstone with incredibly soft Cuoio Tuscano leather. It had rear seat entertainment and good rear seat leg room. I think its actually more sporty than a 612. Even if its not your favorite Ferrari, it is a Ferrari and it sounds awesome. I think that if you are considering buying a Panamera and if you have $285K to spend, its worth a look.

Almost identical length and width, but a stretched wheelbase. It's also 50kg lighter than the 612

True, but that's the point, he gets to have one--especially since he's seen it in person and you haven't. To that I'd add, generally he's quite well informed! :)

I believe that was my thought long ago in this thread--a top end competitor to the Panamera Turbo or Aston Rapide...

Personally, I see absolutely nothing wrong with that strategy. I've not "seen" it so I can't opine as to how it really looks but I CAN see it in the next Bond film along with the Aston careening down a mountain side--might be pretty cool shot :)

Thanks for the details and your perspective from seeing it live and in living color!
One might wonder how each local dealer will find the time and shop talent to service all this extra product Ferrari seems intent on pushing...

There was another 4wd 2+2 coupe built in the seventies: The Jensen Intercepter. The FF looks like the modern version.

It's amazing how ignorant some people are when it comes to four photographs.

Maybe it's the lack of exposure to exotic cars, or general lack of knowledge around how well something like this can actually be executed.

The same people who ridiculed the 612 were left with their foot in their mouth when they first sat in, or drove one. I'm expecting nothing less with this example.

Have you driven it? Have you even seen it? How can you tell a Ferrari is barely a Ferrari just with a couple of pictures?

A very solid majority of Fchatters absolutely despised the 599 back in 2006 when the first, admitedly not the most flattering (as usual with Ferrari introducing new car),pictures of a red car appeared.
Even the vaunted 458 has a significant number of "haters"....
FF will be the ultimate daily driver,I have no doubt about it.....

I remember that day very well.

I remember people saying it looks like a Supra, a Viper, a corvette. That it looks like a japanese car. It doesn't look like a real Ferrari. Two single rear lights is just weird. That Enzo is rolling over in his tomb.. etc..

Now, we see this in the street and we would be drooling all over the place:

And for the sake of the conversation, here's some quotes in a 599 thread when the first pictures came out:

I wonder how many of the people who write these things up there are blinded by the ugliness of the Ferrari 599 GTO I just post above. Bottom line is that almost EVERY SINGLE NEW FERRARI that comes out are subject to huge negative reaction. For me, Ferrari are always one step ahead, and we as enthusiasts or customers are not prepared for a new and different Ferrari. That's why we are not used to the new design. I have personally like the 599 and 458 at first sight though.
