I was wondering how long the average 458 owner waited on a dealer list before taking delivery. I wasn't able to find a slot for 18 months so I didn't end up going through my local Ferrari dealer. I wanted to see what other owners have experienced. Thanks.

I declined the two delivery dates I was offered by the Ferrari Dealer. Several months later I saw a yellow 458 at a car show and I fell in love.

I told the dealer and he found me a yellow 458 within a week and I bought it. It was the same car the owner gave it back to the dealer and I ended up with the car. I just got lucky

I am specifically wanting to know how long other owners waited from their original deposit to ordering their 458. My local dealer has had their production slots spoken for several years I was told. So I assume most owners out there have had their names in for at least a few years? I have owned two new Ferraris. A 430 and a California before buying my 458. At the time I purchased my California I asked to be placed on the wait list but was told I would need to buy a 599 or 612 to be added to the wait list and even then I had an expected wait of 18-24 months. I appeciate hearing others experience with their dealers.

Spoke to my dealer in October. Was told it is at least a 1.5 year wait...

Bought a preowned F430 from them and was promised a car sooner. A slot opened up and they held up their end of the bargain. Ordered the 458 a few weeks ago and the car will be built in March.

In China I ordered mine in the end of September and took delivery the first week in December. The factroy volunteered to fly the car here. Therefore its roughly 2.5 month waiting time. However we are paying triple price here compare to the US market. But the good side is that not too much ppl on the list.

I was offered an allocation immediately after I asked, but I didn't go for it. Gonna stick with the Cali for now.

I still do not have a firm delivery date, but from deposit to delivery will be about 16 months. I had no "history" with the dealer, perhaps that shortens the time.

I asked dealer for an order slot in March 2010 and my order was put in in mid April about a month later. Car arrived in july. No personal history of buying cars from the dealer although a family member has bought several cars over the years and I always tagged along to observe ..

I guess my dealer wanted to rake me over the coals or we have more demand for the 458. I wish i could have gotten a slot as easily as the rest of you :). Thanks again for everyones input.

I was told by the February of this year, now I'm told by August 2011, at which point it will have been a year and a half more or less.

Deposit on Scud years ago, switched it to Cali, then to 458 when I decided what I really wanted. Chose spec in June, car built in September and delivered in November. I've done 5,000km already. I quite like it.

I paid over msrp for mine. My dealer is claiming they have four plus years of 10k deposits for their allocation of 458s. I spoke to them about getting added to the list for the spider but was told the same thing about that list as well. My dealer says they have only received 4 units since production began and probably will only get another 3 for the entire year. I really don't know what to make of all of the lucky people walking right into a slot with no prior Ferrari history.

It is confusing to learn the various degree of difficulty in getting a 458, I guess it all depend on location/allocation of the dealer.
