All... Well it has finally happened... Ghibli SS #1928 is painted... I have attached a few pictures and let me say the pictures do NOT do the paint job justice... The car is absolutely beautiful and stunning in this blue!!! Final work on the paint (wet sanding, etc.. ) is still to be done! Enjoy! Well I finally was able to pick my car up from the shop last Friday. The guys at Dew Motorcars did a fantastic job seeing to a long list of issues. The weather was great on Saturday and I had a great time driving around and showing off! I picked my wife up from work at Georgetown University Hospital on Saturday afternoon and you should have seen the look on the Georgetown students faces. Priceless! Hello Ian... Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but I wanted to get as much info on the paint color as possible... Here is what I have on the paint: Color Name: Blu-Sera Metallizato Manufacturer: DuPont Paint Code: could be W8072K or 0004 The paint is the formulation from 1981 and is DuPont Chroma based. It also says Alternate #1 on the can... I don't have the can label in front of me, but I will look again the next I visit the car... Hope this helps... Mike

Hi Walter, Some pictures for the enthusiast: 1st pic:end of 2006 and the other 2 last year Le Mans, but at that time the car was ready for about 3 years! A load of work but now already some 20.000km of fun after the restoration!!!... When you do it well a Ghibli is a superb long distance cruiser. Hi Ghibliman, Still a long way to go, but, it pays off! Just to motivate you: wait till you get this far and then; take it out for vacations! Note: I did put some green LEDs in the overhang of the dash top to light the rocker switches. Helps you finding them when driving in the dark. Can create fearsome experiences otherwise, I know from experience. NICE BART!!! Love to see the process.....I'll check in to an LED strip. I have the same shift knob in my Ford GT.....it looks great in that Ghibli.
Ghibliman, I just drilled some holes in the dash top and mounted 5 green leds (and resistants, ask your elctronics shop!) over the clocks and connected them to one of the clock's lumination. They provide a nice glow and enough to find the right switch in the dark. See photo. I like a personal touch in my cars. In the Ghibli this is the Maserati emblem between the air vents, the gear lever knob and I changed the Ducellier window switches for Alfa Montreal switches. Looks more in harmony and they are contemporary. I wonder why Maserati did not do ithis themselves. As a boy I viisited Maserati and I saw a Ghibli with cases instead of the cushions behind the front seats, had to do that too! Plus these are great when you want soem small stuff in the car while parking. The gear lever I shorthened an put the Aluminum knob on, not original but I was not found of the BMW 2000 mushroom it came with. Anyhow when you ordered a new Maserati Ghibli at the time you could get almost anything you liked. Bart, this is the earliest Ghibi I came across so far: #115.014. The seller told me that the body comes with the glasses only. The original engine of the car is lost but another early motor is available. Its a pity that the car is dismantled and offered only as a restored shell.
