I imagine seeing the FF in person would be akin to finding out your ugly duckling blind date had become quite the swan in college, and that she experimented with other lovely ladies.
Do some people have nothing better to do than to write something negative every single day about this car? We understand you don't like it but do you really have to say the same thing over and over again every time anyone makes a comment in here? I am sorry but it's getting boring! You don't like it...fair enough but now you can move on and post comments on other threads that don't concern the cars you don't like! At least please give us 1 day without crying about how you don't like this car and how ugly you think it is. Thanks
I agree and disagree to a point with this, the results of the poll are clear over 40% beleive this looks are questionable and that in itself is proof that Ferrari have created something ugly here. I do agree that posting on and on about it isnt really needed but just perhaps the Ferrari marketing department browse here. Me, I am just thankful that Ferrari does have one pretty car, the 458.
I am in Maranello on Monday and will get to see it in the flesh. I will post my opinions then....until then...enjoy your drives guys! Drive safe and enjoy. MJ
Very true... ;-) If not I have a feeling we will keep talking about the difference of these 4 pictures and reality for another month until Geneva!!! As usual though I doubt that Ferrari will ever let anyone take a picture of the cars inside the factory
I understand opinions are unwelcome, particularly of the negative kind. The marketing experts on Fchat have spoken, and criticizing the FF is as politically incorrect as criticizing the kalifornia. So I will give you all an interesting fact, not an opinon. The FF has officially acquired its nickname in Italy. Italians of course are fickle, have little clue about business, and scant taste for beauty. Italy is nevertheless the homeland of Ferrari, so Italian opinion can be interesting. Here goes: LA FERRARI FURGONETTA p.s.: I am not going to bother translating for you.
Looked at the FF pics a lot and thought about it a lot. My conclusion is that Ferrari surveyed their top echelon of customers (guys that buy every single new model and variant, without question) and realized that these people still have to buy a Range Rover, Cayenne, etc. if they want to haul junk around - not just people but actual stuff. So Ferrari figures there is incremental $$$$ to grab from these guys. I picture the conversation as: Super Elite customer says to Ferrari rep: "If you guys would just build something that has some cargo space, I wouldn't have to drive this piece of crap Range Rover most of the time". This is the only scenario that justifies the design (otherwise why not a beautiful 4-place like the Quattroporte) and price point to me. This will not be anybody's first Ferrari. So there you have it - the FF is a Hummer competitor!
Not even close. The problem I have with the critics is that they state their opinion as absolute fact and imply that there is something mentally wrong with anyone who likes the design. Criticism is fine, it's when someone thinks it is their way or the highway that things go south.
I would love to know who in Italy has called it Furgonetta.... as every Italian magazine I have read said amazing things only about the car! PS "Italians of course are fickle, have little clue about business, and scant taste for beauty"???? I hope this is only a joke!
Pot, meet kettle. People who criticized the design have been crucified for a variety of reasons, most of them spurious. This is how they have been described: -Purists (as if that was a negative) -Ignorant of basic marketing principles -Ignorant of basic microeconomic principles -Uninformed, for giving an opinion based only on a picture - Ignorant of the fact that every Ferrari has been criticized when launched. Of all these, the most offensive is the last, because it is spectacularly and utterly untrue. Is anybody old enough to remember the launch of the Daytona? The Lusso (that one got the best reception of all, and it's not a 2+2)? The 308? The 355? The 458 (yesterday)? All were favorably received, and continue to be respected. Others were heavily criticized, and they still are. Keep having fun...
Manssour (Bronzeage) has pretty good aesthetic sense. (You could tell from how he spec'd out his first 612). I'll be interested to see what he has to say.
Fair enough for the joke ;-) but which magazine was it? I would love to know and read the article.... very interested
All good points! It's interesting that some people seem to think that they're entitled to their opinion, but those who have another opinion are not. Okay, I don't think much of the FF. I think the profile looks like a station wagon, and the front grille and headlights look like a frowny face. I don't know why Ferrari sees a need to build an AWD in any case. I suppose, to avoid offense, that I should qualify it all by saying, "Of course, that's all just my opinion," but that really seems pretty silly to me. Of course it's my opinion. I'm the one who said it. And people who have a different opinion are free to state it. So, why don't the people who like it just say, "I like it," and tell why. (Of course, that's just your opinion.) No need for all this, "So who are you? The Grand Emperor of Design? What's with you purists? Don't you know a thing about economics? Nobody ever liked one single Ferrari initially!" What's the point? Why all the outrage about "stating one's opinion as fact" ? We're all smart enough to recognize that whatever any individual posts, it's just his opinion. Look back at my posts. I've stated that I don't care much for the FF aesthetically. I've never said that people who do like it are fools. I've never even implied that.
I don't remember Lusso (was too young for that one) but I disagree with you about the Daytona. Initially, it was met with wide criticism as being to "conservative" not modern enough with it's engine up front and "staid styling" ,being "outdated" before even hitting the market.
Show me one instance where I have said that my opinion is fact or said that others must be idiots for thinking the car is ugly. Keep your baseless statements to yourself. The 458 was not well received, many people criticized the design originally. Look up the threads for yourself.
Well, I´m not old enough to remember the launch of the Daytona, but I´ve read a few old magazine articles from the early seventies with not overly enthusiastic opinion about its styling. I´d bet that if Ferrarichat.com existed back in that day many people would dislike that car. I think that, as Enzo Ferrari said, the customer is not always right, and that some designs are far ahead from their time and their customers. So what the majority likes or dislikes right now doesn´t mean a sh**, only time will tell. You know, Salieri was far more succesful than Mozart back in that day and...
LOL, then how would fchat fulfill its starring role as the convergence point for outright negativity and Internet nonsense? (well, okay, that's a title it shares with the youtube comment community). that wink is for sarcasm, mods.
Julio- When the Lusso came out, it was criticized as being too bland. I was around when it was introduced. They sold 350 of them and 950 250 GT 2+2s. Taz Terry Phillips
I'm sure that when the second Ferrari was rolled out some folks were saying that they'd lost the clue
