The car was this year by the concours Schloss Bensberg Classic. He wons the award for the attract car.
Monteresa 5000GT at Pebble a few years ago. Walter, if I remember correctly, this car went to a German fellow for a year or so? and was then sold to a racing driver? While it was with the first owner, the engine was out for some reason or another and at was run at the Nurburgring at some point. There is a great pic floating around somewhere of this car on the 'ring carousel. Image Unavailable, Please Login
#006 was delivered to race driver Cesare Perdisa`s dealership in Bologna. From there it was sold in 1962 to German Industrialist Rolf Helm who raced it on at least one occation on the Nuerburgring. Helm sold the car later to Jacques Swaters from Brussels, Belgium, who sold it in 1965 to the USA. Ciao! Walter

When you sold the 034 ? I have a Register about the 5000GTs you can me contact offline ([email protected]) Best regards Nicolas
Hello, I sold 034 to a well know collector in Virginia in 2008. The car was completely restored with rebuilt engine by Rod Drew and myself. Fantastic car, absolutely stunning acceleration, but even even after a full fuel injection rebuild by Power Props, it still was very hard to keep running. Fouled plugs very plugs very often. The car belonged to Jerry Woods for 20 years, he had Piscazzzi restore the car cosmetically in the late 90's, new paint, interior, chrome ...the works, and it was shown at Pebble Beach in 1999. The engine was not done at that point and it hardly ran, and had never been apart mechanically. I bought the car in 2006 and did all the mechanical work, engine, transmission, differential, suspension, and engine bay detail work and showed the car at The Quail in 2007. By the way, I have the exact paint match formula for the green cam cover paint. I worked with Bob Smith to match it exactly from the original on the car. It is a very unique color and metalic, it cost me a fortune just to do color trials on the paint color match!! I also contact the daughter of the original owner Marcel Leclef in belgium. She was very nice and mentioned pictures of car with her father from the sixties, I had hoped to get copies but were never forthcoming. Her father, the original owner, had the car until the 80's. More later..... Chris Rose
Hey Chris, Any chance you could share the paint code for the valve covers? by the way, were the headlights manufactured by CIBIE or Hella? Thanks Jacques
They are Cibie units. I have a pristine NOS complete set of Cibie light units pair still in the original box if anyone is interested. It is the last NOS box that I know of and all that I have left from the restoration of 034. Chris
Hey Jacques, Bob Smith has the actual paint mix and source, at Bob Smith Coachworks. It was a satin metalic hammertone with green. He is very nice and I am sure he would give it you. I have the color sample swatches that we made and I could get those to you if you need them. Chris
Giotto, great catch. Thanks for posting. More and more I like this ol`Italian postcards!!! Only two 5000GT came out in red: 026 and #044, both being Allemano-versons. Unfortunately we cannot identify the registration of the car. Ciao! Walter
But the colors are original ? There are often cars repaint by photographer to add a note of liveliness. At this time is still open the gelateria ? P.S. Bravo Giotto !!
Gelateria appears to be closed / gone. http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Riva+del+Garda,+Trento&sll=49.891235,-97.15369&sspn=24.755975,86.220703&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Riva+del+Garda+Province+of+Trento,+Trentino-Alto+Adige%2FS%C3%BCdtirol,+Italy&ll=45.882958,10.840673&spn=0,0.0421&z=15&layer=c&cbll=45.882958,10.840673&cbp=12,0,,0,5&photoid=po-18472932 Jon
There is not much retouching aka coloring. Look at the water - it looks quite as in reality. Don`t think the car has been reteuched. Ciao! Walter
