When I saw the title I thought this would be a parody including Charlie Sheen! Glad I was wrong, looks like a great film. Watching it now. Thanks for the laugh (at myself) and the link.
Agreed! Doesn't get much better than riding shotgun with Jackie Stewart in a Rolls Royce around the Ring.
Classic! We could use some personalities in F1 - While hyper-talented the current crop is about as much fun as a root canal...
Vimeo is a treasure trove! Here is another great one about the 1968 Mexican Grand Prix. The interviews with the fans tell a lot about the times. One young woman loves the cars, but says she would never marry a driver because the racing is far too dangerous. The cars with their new wings, some with the dominant Cosworth, along with their relative simplicity are fantastic. Discussions of how the "new" cars weren't as exciting as the old where you could see the driver's arms flailing. Talk of how "expensive" the sport had become, and that it would not survive without advertising support from industries outside of motor racing such as cigarette companies. The difficulty of hiring a top driver at 40,000 pounds a year! http://www.vimeo.com/8268317
Great find! Cool seeing the old Mclarens. I saw Bruce and Denny racing the old orange Can Am cars at Bridgehampton back in the day.
Monaco 1970. The press had access to the sidewalks next to the track with no barriers between them and the cars. http://www.vimeo.com/951814 Spa 1962 The Lotus and Ferrari touch wheels at 100 mph, the Lotus crashes into a pole, the Ferrari flips upside down and bursts into flames. Both drivers are OK as they are flung from the cars. http://www.vimeo.com/3530844
