Aventador!

The Murci was a large evolutionary design step from the Diablo which was a large step from the Countach. Yet they all kept a proportional family resemblance...a sign of very good design.

Us designers use something called the 'peripheral vision' test which means if you barely glance at something out of the corner of your eye can you recognize it ?

I doubt many would not be able to differentiate between Countach/Diablo/Murci even if they only saw if for a split second out of the corner of their eye...

I have to wonder if the new Lambo will pass the 'peripheral' test.

Pics look like they have different front ends, different side scoops and headlights but figured it was worth posting. Sorry could not attach pics from my iPad.

 

Those pics have been posted before (did you do a search?). They are not the real thing, although according to those who have seen the car, the second pic is closer to reality.

What an absolute thing of awesome. This will be one of the most exciting cars of recent! I especially like that the gearbox is designed to break your back whilst shifting full throttle, instead of it feeling like you're in a rolls royce. Shame to see the manual gearbox go but at least they try their best to put a good gearbox in there...

So does the 599, so did the 550/575. Fact of life. If you want an investment stay away from cars, or if you have nothing constructive to say, don't say anything and just look at the pictures.

I think the new lambo is following along a formula that has been there from the countach on... on the other hand, im pretty sure the FF will pass the peripheral test as very few people will mistake that thing...lol.

 

i agree. but these days, it's becoming increasingly difficult to put out a product that is TOO differentiated. they obviously have to walk the tight rope of family resemblance vs 'out of left field' design. but make no mistake, underneath, this new car is vastly different from all that precedes it.

 

agreed. said poster has nothing but whiny remarks. it may resemble a Murcie, but that's the point. however, underneath, it is waaaay more exciting. monster NA V12, carbon tub, horizontally opposed suspension...slamming and fast gearbox...

 

The looks are disappointing to me.

Not ugly but it's a bit of a hodgepodge mixture of previous design elements. The ingress part of the door leading to the rear intake with it's upward rake reminds me of a Testarossa minus the strakes.

Sure it's bad-ass and all that but with a new lambo i look to be blown away and this car's looks don't really do that.

The question is will people be able to discern an Aventador from a Murci if only seen for a split second from the peripheral.

If not, then I find that to be a problem because I can certainly tell a Countach/Diablo/Murci in this manner.

Time will tell. I still have faith in Lambo.
