Well you could have taken it to ACS and run the auto-x course which is totally benign. ACS is 1.5 hrs away. Also they have huge aprking lots you can run around in too if you don't want to go on track. I'll be on the track sunday. Speedventures has almpst no signups for sunday which makes for a very open track. You could putt around in a low rungroup just to shake it down. Call me if you are going. I'll be there testing before next week's race.

    Way, WAY ahead.

I had hopes to make stink with the IMSA while the 358 was still foreign to the Fixit Bros. Testing, setup, practice..... that is a bad thing for their competition. That is no regular Challenge car, that is a full out Cheater car set up by folks that knew what they were doing. It is a delight to see that running again, even better is the fact it looks as good as it should now.

The battery charger went on the IMSA car yesterday and the trailer was hooked up to the truck. The only chance I have is to slip a new belt on the gernade, hang a wing on it and get one race in before these guys get the 358 sorted and learn it. Once they learn how to use that package the odds drop far too much for my taste.

Bruce still needs to mount the TI front splitter, Canard winglets as Ernie suggested, a carbon rear wing, repaint the interior..... The only chance is burden them with a long list of must do fluff items to tie them up for a while. With the freshly painted Cow Catcher on the front... will it even make it out of the driveway onto the street?

Maybe it'll take them some time to find the required GFRT hula girl for the dash? :)

Aw, Dave you're killin' us!!! Keep it quiet. Man once you tell these clowns here at Chat, it's as good as global, which means, er, um, oh crap, forget it...

Believe me, I was embarassed by the picture, but the actual size is more balanced. BTW, Bruce is the real hero in this venture. I'm along for financial (limited), moral (as much as I have), minor mechanical (understatement), cosmetic refurbishing (okay, that's my area), computer (ever seen Bruce try to tune a TV?) and comic (for sure) support. ;)

And like Obama, my BC states I was born in the Territory of Hawaii. I'd put the HI flag on there, but no one would know what it was, thinking it was the British ensign (which it resembles). Besides, being 50% Italian and 50% owner on a 100% Italian car seems correct. ;)

As an update, we're currently looking for somebody who won't charge an arm and a leg to tune it (the Motec is set up now for a small-block Ford). About all we need partswise is a wing, but I think we're gonna do the tuning first, then trailer it over to AP Racing to have them do a wing for us, though Northrop is nearby and after looking at Dave's, maybe we need to go there!
Also, wiring for the tach is something of a challenge. Need that.

Try sending Jotec a pm. I haven't seen him on here in years so he may not respond, and the last time I talked to him was a few years ago and the Long Beach GP. I'll see if I can get ahold of him again?

Installed a fuel pressure guage from Summit Racing ($42 including AN fitting!) and found the fp was set at 80lbs+. Cranked it back to 45lbs and idle speed dropped into range. As cheap as this was and as much as I like knobs, dials, and switches, I think I'll put one on each side on the street car!

Racecar no care about idle. Maybe fuel pressure is part of this cars secret.

Save it for the street car, too high a vibration area in my opinion. It amounts to a weak link that nulifies the safety aspect of the AN fittings and braided lines.

Interesting comment, taken in point. However, I believe for the tuning, I'll keep it on the car until we get the F/A dialed in. The Motec wanted to know fuel pressure and we were just guessing - and we were wa-a-a-a-y off. How else would you do this? There is a huge difference in 28 lb injectors flowing 20 millisec bursts at 87 psi versus 15 ms at 55 psi, eh? We're trying to figure out how much gas this freakin' gas guzzler really needs! :)

Umm . . . has that term been added to the official GFRT dictionary? Just curious. :)
