My dream formula would be no KERS, no traction control, no adjustable wings, no brake bias adjustments, no adjustable diffs, no engine mapping changes....NOTHING. Just a man and his car. If the FIA is not going to allow real innovation, then it should be a racing series, not a semi racing, semi green, semi whatever series. I really just want to see the fastest street circuit cars driven by the best drivers in the world.

I agree with them. It is getting crazy. I mean adjustable wings? What happened to track to track set-ups and choosing low or high downforce set-ups? I don't have an issue with paddle shifters, and brake bias adjusters, etc since they won't take a 1/4 the time/concentration the adjustable wings will.

KERS has a positive impact on relevant road car technology. I hope it stays.

As far as the adjustable rear wings go, either support it or stop complaining about a lack of passing. The true solution would be to change the bias between aero and mechanical grip; but then the cars would become much slower and people will complain that F1 isn't the pinnacle anymore.

These drivers are getting paid how much every year to drive in effectively indestructible monocoques? Remember when they also had to use their left foot and move their right hand from the steering wheel several times a lap..

The problem isn't with the tech its with the ridiculous way the FIA hobbles its implementation. There's no reason for drivers to have to push buttons on what could easily be a fully automated system other than the fact that the FIA wants the driver to be more involved. They're so "involved" now that it distracts from the actual driving.

They could go back to ground effects and still have the downforce and be able to follow closely.

Use KERS for Le Mans. The more basic F1 is, the b@lls it takes to be driven.

I hear you and can agree.

However F1 is more than that to me, I like the fact engineers are forced to come with wacky idea's pushing the boundaries of technology.

Maybe I'd like them to be given bigger parameters to work with, but there is alot to said for constraint as well, but I would lose interest if it became a spec series.

In this green day and age, racing is becoming a vulgar word, so I figure if F1 can give a bit back in the way of green technology ect it will stand a better chance of lasting.

Don't change and we could risk becoming a dinosaur.

Technology is part of the charm of F1.

I like to see the engineers pushing the limits even if these innovations get banned

My guess is that it has the opposite effect as desired. f you really want passing, get rid of all the aerodynamics {wngs, spoilers, diplanes, barge boards, undertry, diffuser,......} then we really would see passing.

Correct Steve, but dinosaur aside, whats the point of all the tech when the cars just can't seem to pass each other? The current bunch of circuit designs, testing ban, engine freeze, restricted RPMs, are all contributing factors here.

The 80s produced probably the best times of F1 racing. Lots of overtakings, turbos, and basic, beautiful looking cars. Today, most cars are ugly as hell, and heck...with the new rules, the drivers seems to operate a Concorde rather than an F1 car.

    P/s : Man Utd lost! :(

    Cheers mate!

God no. Maybe the key to F1 is giving each team $50-100million a year and allowing them to go nuts. Get rid of team sponsors propping up certain teams and allow the TV money to really go to the teams. Maybe allow companies to sponsor events or F1 in general which could also go right to the teams. There really is plenty of money to go around.

Since 2009 I think you are right. These new skinny rear wings and huge front wings, along with these stupid really high noses just don't look as good. IMO the last really good looking F1 car was in 2008 before all those changes went into effect. Although I do like the F60....

Yes Brian ....MAN UTD lost..;) The 80s were top, but we can't go back, main thing is the F1 cars are alot damn safer now. Ironic that Robert K walked away (I think) from that horrendous F1 crash, and look what has happened to him now in a rally car.

To be honest IMO the main factor for lack of overtaking is the nature of the tracks.

The rest is supposed cost cutting I think.

Just watch the Senna tribute BBC Top Gear bit and tell me which F1 car you would have more fun watching or driving yourself. The chrome painted computer car or a bat out of hell Marlboro livery three pedal car?

Pushing the bounds of technology? Like limiting the revs?

Get rid of all driver aids and adjustable wings. Keep KERS to satisfy the greenies and the paddle shifters since they both have use on street cars.

Whatever happened to a driver setting up the car?

All this stuff with KERS and movable rear wings to create more passing will not create talented passing. Passing should take place because a driver is performing, not because some engineer can build the fastest car in a straight line. F1 will turn in to drag racing with a few turns...

In that few if any cars ever passed it on the track it doesn't address that issue ;)
