At the risk of repeating myself, I just love the design of that garage.

    Speciale!

That's why I posted that pic.

This car was delivered under the auspices of Piero Ferrari.

    Agreed.

And I'm fortunate to be with someone who takes the time to capture these images the way she does.

#55167 and I went for our first drive today...The 288 just received new discs and pads, a new clutch, new belts and is in perfect health...

I am in love... No car has ever impressed me as much as this Ferrari... Light, responsive, powerful, it reminded me of everything that makes a car truly great. It also reminded me that a truly great car needs no electronics to mask its brilliance... I came back and -crazy as it sounds- I couldn't even look at the Enzo.
Compared to my old F40 -great car- it is less explosive, feels more delicate with the smaller tyres and less powerful engine, but in many ways it is a far more cohesive driving experience...I felt like I could go on driving forever.

In my humble opinion Joe is right...This is the greatest modern Ferrari. It cost a lot of money, but it is worth every penny. I can see why so many people are currently trying to buy them and I wonder what would ever make me sell it...

The car is going back to the workshop next week, as I have some megaphonos fitted...More news in 2 weeks time.

I checked my notes and I have extensively researched this card.

My notes say it was seen in Scotland sometime in 2005.

    I hope that helps.

The red inserts in leather really do look superb. Joe, out of curiosity is there is a breakdown of how many 288s were sold in each country back in 1984/5? Some data I have suggests South Africa got three, not sure if the one in the Franschoek Motor Museum is one of those 3 based on the fact it has the yellow fogs, which would indicate possible European delivery.

I think the Franschoek museum car was originally delivered to France, but I'm guessing at the moment. I may have posted earlier in this thread that 3 cars were delivered to South Africa which is what my registry suggests, but I don't have a breakdown of cars by country delivered although I suppose with some effort it could be put together.

Does anyone know if a fire extinguisher was an original factory option for the 288 GTO? If it was, what did the original factory one look like and how/where was it installed? A picture would be great.

    Thanks!
