USC's NCAA probation ends one season early ('10/'11 vs. '10/'11/'12), Trojans' new A.D. wacks Kiffin after this season, in comes a refreshed (Jeff) Fisher ready for a new reign in Troy from '12 & beyond! :D

Now that would be neat... :p

I really don't care for Kiffin at all, but even I would have a problem with that.

Now, I would say Jeff ought to take his millions, and at his age ride off into the sunset and enjoy it, but unless you have been around pro sports every day, unless you have lived in the locker room, you have no idea what it's like (to walk away).

It's hard, it's your life, it's everything you know, it's YOU, it's nearly impossible to simply walk away from UNLESS you have set in your mind well in advance exactly WHEN precisely you are going to walk away.
This is why some athletes hang on longer than they should, like Emmett Smith, Joe Montana, that guy in Minnesota, other great guys that signed on with other teams after brilliant careers with one team. Do you think they sign with losing teams for the money? Guess again, it's the camaraderie, the team, the thrill, it's really hard to get past that for some.

    half-time score...NFC 42, AFC 7

Watched a few plays throughout the first half and somehow managed to miss all of the scoring plays (including replays). I did see Rivers get picked off in the endzone by DeAngelo Hall.

This was just a stupid 'show', not really a 'game', I turned the channel at the second quarter and never went back.
Those guys should have just played flag football in pajamas and no pads... it sucked.
I was not expecting a game with much hitting, but this was ridiculous.

They might as well play flag football.

I have to say I don't blame them for avoiding injury though... it's just an exhibition.

    Exactly.
One thing I have never photographed is a Pro Bowl, they ought to just have it be fan interactive and make a big party out of it.

I like watching golf sometimes. I'd certainly stare at a blank screen than watch the probowl. It's that bad.

Speaking of the Pro Bowl, for most of those who didn't watch it, here was the best moment of the game.

Well, the cold weather in Texas has led the Packers and Steelers to move their practice indoors. The Steelers are using the Sammy Baugh Indoor Football Practice Facility at TCU in Fort Worth and the Packers are using the High Park High School , yes High School, indoor facility in Dallas. The Pack was supposed to practice at SMU but all their fields are outdoors and the negative chill factors and ice have caused the move indoors.

The two indoor facilities are very nice places though.\

"... and in other news, former NY Giants great & current color-commentator Phil Simms threatened to beat-up another former notable NFL'er, Desmond Howard, over comments that the Michigan Heisman winner and Super Bowl MVP made regarding Simms younger son who QB's the Volunteers in Knoxville ('one of the worst SEC QB's')!"

All too familiar, as for years in Austin as all had to deal w/ the pressure to play & patronize the elder son of Phil, Chris, over a more likable & equally competent Major Applewhite. I believe it was the most tense time for coach Mack Brown in his tenure (till this season) as head honcho of the Longhorns. They would've won the same amount of games w/ either QB, but Phil's kid was the "sexier" choice w/ his at-times prolific passing & potential NFL-ready skills. Funny thing, Chris couldn't win the games that mattered while at Texas (vs. Oklahoma in the Red River shootouts, Big-12 championship games, bowl games); he just could put up prodigious amounts of passing yards on patsies & soft Big-12 defenses.

A silly article but worth a read: http://www.opposingviews.com/i/the-truth-about-major-applewhite-chris-simms
