    G. Bizzarrini picked the Corvette 327 because it was the best engine available in the early 1960s. Even Shelby wanted this engine but Chevrolet did not want competition for the Corvette so Shelby went with Ford. When one designs a race car the location of the distributor is not important.

I learned this lesson when I wanted to change the battery in my Bizzarrini and realized that one of the brake boosters needed to be removed. The battery sits forward of the engine very low near the ground on a solid part of the frame. It seems like the battery could be removed from under the car but the shelf is a solid part of the frame. In a race car the engine is changed more often than the battery.

It really should have it's own thread since it is a recreation based off of Oliver K's recreation that was based off of a real Bizzarrini.

Being it is Bizzarrini you should ask how many "finished" P538's, and do you mean to include P538 style cars that he call Grifo's and other names.

Do the P538 have chassi numbers? Are there 2 or more cars out there with the same chassi numbers?

How many unfinished do you know ?

I would be curious to look at one (chassis & bodywork) in order to fit in one of my Lambo V12 and finished it as real P412 => 4 liters V12 => 4.12

I posted the first post about Bizzarrini? MANG Do you want people to post about Pantera and Mangusta kits under Mangusta?

It is an interesting project, but IMO the car is defiantly not a Bizzarrini. It was a body made by someone that copied a mold that was made By Oliver K. on the east coast which was a copy of either a Diamonte copy or a real Bizzarrini.

Post 183 has a better chance of being made by Bizzarrini.

I respect your opinion, since you did start the thread. I for one, and I think most of us really enjoy a photo documented restoration, even when the 'build' is a copy, but I respect that copies tend to 'bug' on owners of originals :/

I tried to delete this because it had way too much emotion in it, I was just kinda reacting. Sorry about that. I think it is old 'hard feelings' from your previous attacks on Mangusta's that I get defensive about, so thanks for taking the high road and toning this down, and explaining things like you have. Sorry this went public, I deleted and sent a more civil pm to approach velocetwo about this, but too late :/

Unfortunately, I know little about the cars, but I enjoy their very special looks. I don't take any print seriously as I have in the past worked with auto journalists and some have agendas, want favours and wasily take offence or simply copy paste someone else's report and take credit. So the best is to read a much as you can and weed-out the personally subjective info.(read between the lines)

See the Iso Bizzarrini registry here; http://www.isoregistry.com/Bizzarrini_Chassis_Numbers_registry.pdf

IMO that is one of the better lists and you can see how little information there is regarding P538 serial numbers. Jack Koob De Hartog has a P538 Book out that gives a good account.

The history of specific Bizzarrini cars is difficult to document, for many cars, because either Bizzarrini did not keep records or they were destroyed after the company went out of business. So, the chassis number list here: http://www.isoregistry.com/Bizzarrin...s_registry.pdf

is the most accurate data available and this list is compiled by an avid Bizzarrini/Iso collector and expert in the UK.
