If I was Ford, I'd just run over the front of one of those pesky little cars.

Of better yet, drive over one while still in the garage.

Well, in fairness, you know fully well that if Ford had come out with an "F40" truck
(4 liter diesel!) that Ferrari would be taking a VERY close look. They are pretty
notorious for protection of all things Ferrari.

    I just think it's funny

    :)

I wonder how many pickup sales were lost over the confusing purchase of a Formula 1 car.

    *rolleyes*

I think Ford is just giving Ferrari a taste of their own medicine.

Ferrari had better settle this, or else they are a sitting duck in court.

About a clear a case as I can imagine.

Funny too is that I can't imagine it behooves Ferrari to have any of their identity capable of being misconstrued with anything associated with Ford???? .....seems like a PR boner for Ferrari even without the lawsuit.

I don't have the case to cite but didn't BMW sue Infiniti (Nissan) a few years back over the use of the letter "M" for the name designation of a car? BMW lost that one but it wasn't exactly the same combo of letters and numbers (BMW M3 / Infiniti M35). I believe that the court ruled that you can't trademark a letter.

    ***edit***

Looks like it was back in late 2005 or early 2006 and it was in Canada, not the US. It sounds like it was only after Nissan sued BMW over the Z letter designation for cars and lost.

It looks like it's more about using the legal system for publicity more than anything else.

Ford should be happy they are using it. It increases the positive image for the junk cars they sell. I own one and its the biggest pos i have ever had.

How many truck driving Americans know what an F1 car is or have ever heard of a Grand Prix?

How many 2011 Ferrari F1 cars will be sold in the USA (or anywhere else for that matter)?
    Answer none
How important are the non USA markets for pick up trucks: not very

Did Fiat sue Ford for the use of the 500 name? No, different products and markets...

Unfortunately and typically American to do this.

    How sad

    Don't get me wrong. I'm not a Ford-hater.

But, given the history Ferrari had with Ford a few decades ago, I'm guessing Ferrari isn't too fond of them. :)

Well no.... not "typically American". There's probably 300 million of us that don't agree with the lawsuit. Does your ignorance of this fact make you "typically European"? Hmmm.......

I have a Ford F-250, so therefore I'm better than this stupid Ferrari!!!!!

    [rolleyes]

Christ, you're no better than the redneck Americans you presume to belittle.

And yes, I have spent time in Switzerland, and have spent quite a few late nights quaffing beer with Swiss rednecks.

Ferrari really has no leg to stand on, they should have called it the I150 for Italia 150, would have made more sense for the unification of the state, or maybe FI150, but F150 was just asking to get sued.

Has anyone considered that the F150 name is to allow introducing duelly rear wheels mid season?

Perhaps Ford is STILL unhappy about Enzo pulling the plug at the last moment on selling Ferrari to Ford in '62? Even after trouncing Ferrari at Le mans in '66-'69...
