You just need to type [/QUOTE] after the sentence "I told myself a while back after my 599 that I was done with new Ferraris." To make the quote appear properly.

I appreciate your write ups and insight ... but the last thing I personally wanted was a longer taller version of my 612. No matter how comfortable the back seat is - you still gotta lunge back there and anyone who gets in there knows that was the easy part.
At 6 2 - 215 zero desire to ever sit in the backseat of any 2+2.

Anyone going out on the town with adults or a business lunch knows the back seat is useless - yet Ferrari designed the whole dang thing around it!

My 612 looks like a mammoth beast already next to other exotics and I can only imagine what more length and height will do.

8 seconds to 62 on the manettino's new "snow" setting. Also has one for rain.
The new color is called "Triplo Strato," and it has more luggage space than a Conti GT.

Interesting fact is that all the "haters" have not seen the car in person.
Those who did,in general like the car.
    Just sayin.......

Where exactly is the intersection of logic and Ferrari?

The car is actually really beautiful! In pics the car looks kind of BMW esque (to me [side profile]), in the metal it is really, really, really nice!

When the updates come out and nicer wheels, it will be a stunner. The lights do not look 458ish as per pics, they really have their unique look, and the rear... the rear. Stunning. Side looks like a 4 seater 8c Comp to me, and that is a stunning car. Much lower roofline than it seems in pics and wider too. I like it alot.

    Just my humble 2p

    Regards
    Mike

It may look wonderful in metal ... it may look and feel extremely comfortable and be superior on the track than the 599.

That is not my gripe with the FF - it is taller and longer than the 612 and that my friends is unacceptable in any form.

May I ask why? It was done to actually seat 4 human size adults and apparently it does that quite well.

    Pan Am's at 100 - 150k are everywhere

The FF is a 2+2 at 375 - and the buyer will no more use that backseat than someone with a 612.

Its too hard to get in n out ... Saturday Nights with another couple at this level are not slamming in the backseat nor is a client for a business lunch.

The car was designed around a tall roof and even longer stance!

The gg50 was what I was hoping for ... go to the bottom of the page on the link :)

    http://www.carazoo.com/article/1412200901/Top-10-Hand-made-Sports-Car---Part-1

The Cali was a Maser until the last minute it was beefed up in hp and Ferrari slapped a badge on it. Maser should have taken the FF body and marketed it at 175k and taken the engineering to a updated 612 at 325.

What y'all seem to forget is the craftsmanship in a 612 alloy body vs the FF not being hand crafted.

I said it a year ago and will say it again - Ferrari is asking to much from their customer base and the market is proving it.

somehow I've gotten on the "constant harassment" list for a Cali

so yes, they're scraping the bottom of the barrel ;)

for what the FF costs I'll take an AM Rapide and a Maser Gran Cabrio.

    Both beautiful.
Both seriously underpowered to compete against anything but some compacts maybe....

599's are pretty big ( I don't mind them because Ferrari needs at least 1 big luxury car ) ........ compare to the 308. How much bigger is the FFS ?

At 470 and 433 c'mon they are beautiful cars and hardly deserving the term underpowered.

FTR - I do not like the FF for my wants ... that certainly does not mean it is not a very amazing car and may fit others perfectly.

I simply wanted something different :(

I don't know, I don't think it looks quite as bad as most people on here seem to feel, then again, I happen to be fond of the BMW Z3 "shoes", so I guess I'm a bit of an oddball.

This brings up a question I had: is this the first ferrari of any sort to feature 4WD? I know there aren't any road cars, but I can't think of any race cars either. Even the 308 rally cars were RWD. The '60s-'70s saw a lot of experimentation in F1, with Cooper and Lotus leading the rear/mid-engine revolution and everything from the 6 wheeled Tyrell P-34, fans sucking air from beneath the car, and Lotus' crazy turbine cars, but it always seemed to me that Enzo was quite stubborn when it came to design elements of his race cars. The fact that Ferrari was late to the game with rear-engined cars is well documented as if Enzo viewed the technology as a fad that would soon pass, so I can't imagine him experimenting with 4WD.

If that's the case, this car does kind of flow against the heritage of the company, but then Porsche has had their biggest success with the Cayenne SUV (which was universally panned by the "purists"). Hopefully, Ferrari won't end up like Porsche, but there's no doubt that the FF is pushing the boundaries in trying to expand their market share.

That name, though... I would've hoped Ferrari could've come up with a more original name than one used for an old British Jensen! (Another car I happen to be fond of.)

I'd have to disagree with you there. I love the fact that things such as the Veyron, Koenigsegg Agera, Gumpert Apollo and Pagani Huayra (possibly a worse name than "Gumpert") are even legal to drive, but seriously, it wasn't that long ago that a 400hp car was considered "powerful".

For instance, the e39 BMW M5 had a 400hp V8 and that was considered a "super saloon" in its day (around the year 2000). Skip forward only a few years and the e60 M5 had a 500hp V10, a whopping 100hp and two cylinder increase. Now, they're talking about the F10 M5 having 600hp!!! with two less cylinders, but two more turbos.

I'm all for technological progress, but a 600hp four door? We must truly be nearing the limits of grip and driveability.

    Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !

    :D

Since I'm 5' 5" tall I fear I would need a milk crate to stand on to get into any SUV. A Range Rover would give me altitude sickness.
