Has anybody specified a black car with the lighter matt bicolour roof and also the stripe/mirrors contrasting livery?

It looks like I'm getting a car for April or May delivery but when I was at the dealership yesterday they said this colour combination didn't look possible.

I've seen pics of a lovely red car with gloss black roof and black stripe.

    Can't wait!

I'm sure its possible - Ferrari probably doesn't approve of contrasting roof AND stripe, certainly they're all set up for one or other. It will be a pain for the dealer since they'll have to work direct with the factory. I've pushed for a variety of special things, and in the US it involves phone calls to FNA, who then call Spa and back and forth. They do sometimes refuse - for example I couldn't get a fully alcantara steering wheel because part of the trim is done before they're delivered to Ferrari. Sometimes they also come up with a comedy price for something, but then its up to you whether you pay it. If this is your first ferrari they may be more sticky than if you've bought a few.

Andrew, I'm pretty sure your talking about my GTO. My request for changing the bicolor roof color and adding a stripe was a complete nonevent. No one from the dealership or the factory even suggested that it might be a problem. I wanted a stripe almost from the word go. But I also felt that giving up the bicolor roof didn't make any sense. So I decided to keep both! You should have absolutely no problem getting your request approved. Congratulations on soon owning and driving such an incredible car and please consider joining Scuderia GTO!

    Andrew,
when i specified mine at the atelier, i spoke with the lady in charge and she was ready to do your combination. it will cost a while ma it's not a problem for the atelier.
Your swiss dealer is probably looking at the standard documentation of Ferrari and cannot find this combo possibility.
Tell them not to be lazy, pick-up the phone and call the atelier in Maranello...you will have a positive answer!
    good luck!!

I concur with Dan, PJ and Andrea. Should not be a problem to get this done.

The only thing that they did tell me at the Atelier was not to combine the stripe finished in matt with a non-matt body colour as there would be a distinct line accentuated by the difference in paint height visible and that would not look nice.

Having said that, they didn't tell me that even that wouldn't be possible but I didn't explore this in detail.

If you feel like joining Scuderia GTO let us know. We would be very happy adding you to the list of members.

Keep us updated on progress and looking forward to seeing pics of it in due time.

    Forza Scuderia GTO!

Thank you guys. The dealer has asked the factory about the stripe and we're waiting for a response.

Thanks also for the invitation to join Scuderia GTO - sorry to be stupid, what's that and how do I join?

Scuderia GTO is a club (we are still working on the formation of it) bringing GTO owners from all over the world together. Joining it is simple: if you own either a 250 GTO, a 288 GTO or a 599 GTO (or a mix of all 3) you can become a member. Just let us know if you want to be a member and ... you are in.

TrojanHorse is the driving force behind it and came up with this excellent idea. If you have some time you can read all about it in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300443 After reading this it will all make sense.

Should you wish to become a member (this would be great and we would welcome you with open arms), just post in that thread and I will include you on the list of members.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions and I hope your request stripe will be accommodated by Ferrari. I really don't see any reason why they wouldn't.

    Cheers,

    M
