I guess file this one under guy with to much time on his hands.

It really bugged me to see the scene in IronMan when they show the Audi with the ripped off
360 engine bay. It was all movie magic but it looked cool all lit up. I wanted to do something for a while but had trouble finding a light source that could take the heat. Well I found something that has a good chance I think. Led's on a really thin flexible circuit board.

I just finished installing these. I would love to hear your thoughts. Let me know if they are too much. these images are from my iphone I have hires images if I get some interest I can upload the sharper images. Here is one thing my simple little 360 has that the 458 does not. For now at least.

    Thanks.

Well that's news to me. It just looked like Kino flo lighting to me. Plus I have never seen any pics of that any where. I would have figured I would have seen or heard of that option.

Love find out that that part no. see how Audi did it. I started out with white lights. The red went much better.

Well its definitely on the options over here on the Coupe, and i've seen a few Spyders, we used to do a lot of this lighting back in the day with our sound off cars.
I will find the details for you.

You need to hide the actual source of the light.

I agree. Less is more otherwise it kinda looks like a rice burning boy racer. Are the neon tubes in the wheel wells next?

A subtle red glow is the desired effect to go for IMO.

Regarding both cars, are the engine bay LED lights activated by the light switch or are they constantly on?

I like it! Ferrari put a window in to show off the engine, so why not show it off when it's dark?

What LED's did you use? I assume they have to be specific ones as it gets a little warm in there!

I thanks you for your kind words. Some have not been so open minded. It is an awesome car and an awesome design feature why not show it off. What some people don't realize I guess is I purposely showed the source in these images. When your our side the car or from a distance you can not see the leds at all. To the human eye it is very suttle in normal street lighting. It is not fast and the furious I assure you. It looks very clean. Something Ferrari should have though off. IMHO. They are Led on flexible circuit board. pm me I will tell you details on where you may get them.

I like it. It's a removable mod i assume and i would agree with the suggestion to hide it better so not to be seen at any angle. it's cool.

but you didnt answer... how is it turned on and off?

Not working for me. Don't really want to bling my Ferrari.

But, if you like it, it's your car!

I like the look. May I ask you to PM me with the details. I would like to do the same on my 360 spider. I would like to know where you obtained the LED lamp and if you connected to a power source via the engine compartment or in the passenger compartment.

    Thanks in advance

Looks good, but from the pictures it sure does look a tad bit too bright. I'm game for a subtle glow, kinda like what audi did with the r8..low intensity LEDs...think they are 5000k LEDs.

I like the effect and is a way of showing off at those right moments, but I like it more on the blue car.

The thing that I don't understand is why there aren't any lights on the motor compartment. What if one needs to look around at night, we all know we needs both hands while working back there so forget the flashlight. I just don't get it.

I can't agree more. I love my Ferrari. But I have to say the lighting on the inside has always been well a little underwhelming to say the least. When you see the lighting on other "super cars" its like ok now you can see something cool. I get it they like to keep it light but lighting does not add a ton of weight or sap performance at all. All I am saying is they could add a lighting package. The engine bay light should be standard on all ferraris. Just sat in a 458 did not see what it had for lighting. Anyone who has one want to comment on the lighting?

Hi-res pics coming. They will show its a lot more low key than the first images made it look.
