Hey Scott - have you driven a Scuderia. I would be curious to read your impressions when comparing it to your RS.

Btw - don't let the peer pressure get to you. LOL. Just hold out till you get the perfect color combo!

Corsa with black calipers. They should have spec'd red.

Hi Chas! Yes, I agree. This one is at a premium and perfect condition. Just that one little detail that I don't like.

That white Scud above is a beauty!! Think it's possible to get into one for $175k? I'm hoping so as more 458's are delivered. I tested one in the midwest that was listed at 220, but that was last summer. I don't care too much about color or miles. 800 hard miles is worse than 5000 easy ones. These cars get run hard while cold, I fear.
Catch is, I'd like to unload a 2009 LP560. My experience with Lambo sales, service, and reliability has not been favorable.

Yes, absolutely you should be able to find one for 175K selling price now or fairly soon. The asking price for scuds seems to be around 200K, some more some less, and it's only going down. These cars will NEVER appreciate and will continue to slowly drop until a floor is reached. The only question is, how much does saving 10K really mean to you when factoring in the wait time to get the car? For a car near 200K, if I saw the one I want now and it took 190 rather than 180 to buy it I'd buy. But that's just me :)

Same in Hong Kong. So many Scuds for sale and nobody wants to buy in a falling market. Problem here is that there are way too many Scuds for a niche car demand and everyone who really wanted one got a new one.

Maybe the problem is that the 458 took over the Scud niche. Similar performance, more refinement. If 458 still going at premium, then sit on the Scud or eat the loss. I too will buy and feel guilty rather than wait on a 10k drop. My problem is the hit I'll take on the LP560.

Not sure about that 175 figure. Agree with your appreciation comment- they will not. Doesn't discount that the Scud is amazing and will be for years. I know of one that I really would like to have. Found out the calipers on it can be repainted. Just a tad more than I have budgeted. I agree with paying an extra 10k, but an extra 20? Anyway, I will have one of them in my garage soon!

All I can say is given how the Scud market has basically imploded IMO, I decided to turn mine into a full time track car with the appropriate safety upgrades. These sub 200 wholesale numbers make it useless as a trade in against anything else new from Ferrari after owning for a short time.

Might as well enjoy it for what it is made for!

I'll start a new thread when I have some pix to post but changes include:

new capristo system, Novitec ECU upgrade, fire suppression, full cage with Nascar style door bars, 6 pt system utilizing existing seats, battery kill switch, Challenge paddles, upgraded dead pedal, Traq mate data aquisition, reworked door panels(removing existing carbon fiber to fit cage).

LarryF, you better make a plan to switch from the ceramic brakes to some steel ones soon. You'll burn through the ceramics very quickly once you put on slicks and start thrashing it around.

Yeah, got them spec'd out already but I'm gonna burn thru ceramics first. No point in storing them in a box for a rainy day!

I'm amazed at how quickly the SCUD market has gotten saturated and how fast the prices are still dropping. Dealers are offering $160k for 08's and $180k for 09's in trade. Counting the 16m's, there are 50 for sale on cars.com. Some are retailing for under $200k. East coast dealers are pricing low mileage 08's on the floor for around $200k retail. Very sad to see. I didn't think this would happen until the 458's at least caught up with demand.

Keep your cars for yourself and stay off sites like cars.com and autotrader. They will only make you disappointed. Now if your going to sell its a good place to look, but other than that, just drive and forget about it. The amount of joy you get when driving should make the dollar sign pop out of your head. Unless your driving back from service cursing at how high the bill was. :)

Ferrari made too many of those Scuds and not enough demand. I almost order one early 2009 for around $300k and I'm glad I did not. Now I start looking for one under $190k with a few thousand miles.
