My pleasure guys. Always fun running with fellow car lovers regardless of marques. GTi is a great pocket rocket but don't scare your mum too much. I did tell her fast cars and young men are a potent mix so do drive safe.
Bring a updated GPS unit along, you never know where you might end up...maybe some bar in Masin where they have a penchant for big men .
that would be good. if any of the towns are close enough probably safer if we head there to turn around. counting on you to help on feb26!
apparently we're the same age. I'm 21 this year. i was counting you turning up for the E22 drive so I could meet you in person. your golf's still stock? let's go fix it up as well! on another note, i just talked to Hong Seh about replacing the QP's rotors and pads only. $6000 (GST not included). WTFFFFFFFFF. Insane ****. That's the price you'd pay for an entire brake kit with fresh calipers and whatnot. somebody please refer me elsewhere...
Go ************.com. Look for Jeff from Formula Dynamics. He can hook you up with something! Haha I have no plans to remap the golf r at the moment though it's very tempting.
Bro, You can try Rhommel from Rhoms tuning. He would be able to dyno tune your car. He did my evo and also a track junkie. He is the tuner and distributor for Motec in Singapore. You are able to reach him at 93672677 All the best
i was recommended to rhom for my cs also but waiting to let headers settle in before remapping (again). or maybe wait till after inspection (n straight thru)?
hi there, I have a TT with the same engine 2.0T FSI tuned by Rhommel.. prices are around 1.2k range. There alot of shops doing VWs , can try RS tuning as well..... never tried them before but heard their quite famous. Downpipe you can go for brands like Billyboat or Eurojet which HAT brings in....... Exhaust there are many brands can try Akrapovic if you want something light weight, Autospritz might still have a set going at around 3k+
Very strange that your rotors need replacing unless it's tracked which I suspect not. Could it be just the pads & most workshops skim the rotors.
funny you should say that .. I was looking on Google maps earlier to try & plot a route .. and the E22 abruptly ends in a palm plantation, so I guess I have to update my Garmin
many thanks guys. I've heard of Rhommel's tuning and of how good he is, but I've heard that he's fried an ECU or two before, which is why I'm still wary. From what I've read, Stage 1s are pretty similar across the board. The largest concern should be the level of after-sales service you get from the workshop. For that reason, I'm leaning towards Eurohaus or HAT, both of which I visited and found to be pretty accommodating and candid with their advice. As for exhausts, intakes etc, I'll be taking it slow because I need the car to pass the LTA inspection smoothly without having to remove the stuff beforehand. My mom will be taking over the car after I leave for university and I can't bear the notion of inconveniencing her. I've checked out formula dynamics before, and I dropped Ben an sms this morning, but he's yet to respond. I was also wondering whether there were any other sources for replacement rotors and pads, but after some googling, I figured that there weren't any readily available. I too am surprised by the level of wear on the rotors. The wear is visually obvious; the surface of the front discs is banded, which is evidence of uneven wear. I considered turning the rotors, but as they are cross-drilled and rather thin, there's always a risk of cracking. Can anyone please share any experiences with turning and reusing their rotors?
I've always been advised against turning rotors on performance cars, but my last steel set lasted less than 3,000 km and 1 track day! thus the retro fitted CCM's I have now. That being said when I did change steel rotors & pads with HSM it cost less than 4k, & that's at Ferrari prices not Maserati
