Ferrari has now launched their new SDX Diagnostic tool which will replace all previous SD1,2 and 3 Diagnostic tools. It should also replace the DEISS which was used since the last years when the SD3 was no more produced by Digitek.

The SDX should support all older models up to the latest.

Has anyone had the chance to put the hands on the SDX?

From what I heard, the price would be around 12.000-14.000 Euros.

    Thanks,
    Stef

Have the info and photos since October. It will not do California or 458, does work up to 599. Does not work Maserati, Ferrari only. For that kind of money, better off with a Leonardo as you get the frequent updates plus technical support. There is also a license fee required and I am assuming that if the fee is not paid, it will time out. That is only an asumption, it is Ferrari.

Hopefully I will have my hands on one when I am in Italy in a few weeks so I can compare it to the Leonardo. Price is going to be in the low $20,000 DOLLAR range in the USA.

We have one on order, not suppose to have a license fee. Bummer it doesn't do Maserati, but that's ok. It cost 17,900.00 to our front door.

Are any of the previous generations of software compatible, or are "new" versions required to be purchased as well???

Better question...which "rich" shop owner is going to upgrade and sell me an old SD for peanuts?

That's what I was thinking. I don't need the lastest greatest just the 2.7 motronic diagnostic/monitoring ability.

As far as I know, the software is not compatible, the first year license is included. I do not think they are ready for release yet.. I need to check. There is no restrictions, but I think that FNA will clamp down on it once there are units in the USA. My question still is who is going to service you when there is a problem, or who is going to help you when you need to know how to do something with the unit. You are still on your own.

My concern as well ---- If FNA has not "officially blessed" your ownership / possession of the unit, I doubt they will offer you much in the way of customer service if you need help ;)

Stef- Do you have any url references we could look at for the SDX?

FBB- The reason none of the older SD tools have come up for sale at reasonable prices is that the SD-1 works better than the SD-2 on the early cars and the SD-2 works better than the SD-3 for the middle cars, and likely all three will work better for their designed vehicles than the SD-X. Will be interesting to see if that proves true for the SD-X.

Taz, no, for the moment, nothing on the net seems to be available. I got this info directly from Ferrari as they were working on this project since a while (outsourced of course). If I can get any more details, I'll let you know for sure.

Durametric's model specific Ferrari tools are getting closer. Just received images of the device hardware design yesterday. 360 first, then F430, then 550/575M, eventually all the older cars plus newer ones. Will be less than $2K for each model and way less for the simpler SD1 cars.

Any idea as to a time frame for a 2.7 motronic unit?

For the moment, the main target is the 360 as wrote Taz. Duram bought a 360 and all the Ecu's to put them on a bench and work out all the protocoles and different firmwares. We've been exchanging a lot on the 430 too as I have one and could test out the findings. The 360 and 430 represent the main market as much more cars have been produced then the previous models. Such an adventure is a huge investment as you can imagine. I have unfortunately no idea for the moment if the 355/M2.7 will be supported in the future but in theory, the adaptor should support any OBD wiring as the adaptor has an integrated switch so that the right signals can be put together.

Terry, Stef, as you seem to be in close contact with Durametric, have you any idea when the 360 package would be available?

Eric- Duram was originally hoping for a Fall 2010 release for the 360, but went through a major redesign of the harware packaging and making the tool compatible with IPhone and IPad. I would expect it out this spring now, with the others to follow as completed. Everybody will be very pleased with the prices, all of which will fit into an owner's budget.

Duram's intention is to have tools for all the SD cars. Separate tools planned include:

    348/355
    456/550/575
    360
    430
    612
    599

There will probably be a pro version for small shops.

Just be aware that we don't have the right here on this forum to write about the new Modena Technic product of Duram as my new thread has been deleted by a so called "Moderator"......so shhhhhutttt and watch out elsewhere!
