yes - the navigator is fine. He was unhurt (miraculously)...

i thought that f1 drivers on active contracts were barred from doing virtually anything that might endanger them.
participating in any kind of racing was a super stupid move on kubica's part. he has demolished not only his body but his potential for riches and fame.

i certainly hope he gets better and back into the game, but this was ill considered for sure.

 

His contract with Renault allowed him to compete in these rallies. It was a risk Renault and Kubica were willing to make, hindsight is always 20/20. It's been said before, Kubica loves to drive, it's his passion. Yes a tragedy happened, but that can happen with anything

Mark Webber hurt himself riding a mere pushbike (although as this is his second accident on a pushbike I wonder if he needs leasons )

Current issue of F1 Racing magazine has a well written article about Kubica and the Rally effort.....sad to read last night.

Citroen is saying Kimi is free to head back to F1. This is the one driver I'd love to see in that seat.

Correct - my polish is a bit rusty but generally its means something along the lines - more like speedy recovery to you Robert.

Recovering Formula One star Robert Kubica was set to receive a drop of Pope John Paul II's blood to aid his recovery from a horriffic rally wreck, Polish commercial news channel TVN24 reported Friday.
Polish church leaders were also sending a strip of the late pontiff's robes to the injured driver and urged the 26-year-old Pole to keep his faith.
Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz wished Kubica a swift return to full health and said the connection to John Paul II, who he said was himself a keen sportsman, would strengthen his countryman's journey back to the track.

 

Ah yes I see it but they come in seperate sections but I think I get what you mean. I have seen the guardrails connected by heavy duty nuts and bolts in an attempt to make it whole.

 

The computer simulation shows a failure of the connection splice, from broken or missing bolts, it's hard to say...looking at that photo there's actually a purposeful gap, for a footpath or something??, then the next section is the standard curved end facing traffic.

According to his girlfriend his physical and psychological condition has deteriorated.
