Thanks for the complements! Unfortunately, we can't use the magnetic system in Switzerland :(. But we have the advantage to change the license plates between our different cars we own. That's why we use such system so that you can switch them easily.

Finally I installed the LED, it is not as bright as I wanted, but it has a much better result than the 5V bulb. I was kind of hoping to have the 458 day time light result, but because not all LED was pointing forward so it will never have the 458 effect, unless, all LED was twisted and pointed to the front.

I will post some pictures later on to share

Thanks very much, still very happy for the result.

Bravo for the installation. It's true that not all leds can be are turned upwards. I tried hard to get them all aligned upwards but it wasn't possible. Finally I'm happy enough with the results because in the dark, it's just perfect and during the day, I don't care too much ;) I'm happy also to not have to change the bulb's any more in the future.

I will do this mod tomorrow, but I will like to have a good OEM type connection to the leds.
I will try to find a solution also will like to get a little angle to the front.
    Will post my pics soon...

Do you have to take the front wheel off to get into the light bulb area?

Rob, it's not an obligation to remove the front wheel but it would be much easier to work on the car without the front wheel and the mudguards. I removed both wheelhouse panels to make it more comfortable to work on the car and make a clean job.

I started the mod with a led strip and looks very nice,I found this and will test.http://www.ledneonflex.com/led-neon-flex-slim.html
I will try to get a better led distribution with the neon led also I will test using transparent pipe in the back of the led strip to prevent the movement of the leds...

Cheers Stef....my 430 has no jack nor wrench to remove the wheels only a flat tyre kit so I'm stuck before I can get off the ground with your great lighting mod.

If you turn your wheel inside at maximum, you should be able to get to the small removable panel which you can remove to gain access to the headlight.

Cheers Rob and good luck. Try to get a good hydraulic jack and a good dynometric wrench though, it's always very very usefull ;)

Thanks Paul for posting here too ;). Sorry if your thread got some reactions, just a bad day. Consider only the positive posts ;) and ignore the others as everyone can express their feelings whatever they are.

We've all been very fan of Anders great post and applied it to our cars with great results. Simple and straight forward DIY with a good improvement of the stock position lights. Maybe you should continue your thread in a way of a DIY guide as Anders did, so that readers can inspire from your excellent work. It would be great if for instance you could detail how you wired them, how you connected them to the position switch etc ;)

I made mine today and I made some minor mods to this mod jiji

1-I got a clear plastic pipe and insert the led strip, now the leds look very well aligned inside the head lamp and they don't move.
2-Got a connector and reused OEM connector so the look is 100% factory, dust and water free!

I will post pics soon, super cool mod.Now the car looks updated and lost some years.

You did both things I was thinking of. Would you mind posting the details (where and what size tubing you bought, and same thing for the connectors)? Many thanks.

Looks great SSR....mine should be done today too.

One thing, it looks like there's quite a gap between your front bumper and front leading edge. They might have misaligned your bumper when putting it on. Seems to be pretty common in 430's that I've seen. Can you post a picture of your car from the side or from a lower angle so I can tell you for sure if it's off.

Whatever you say...I was just trying to help. It really does look like there's too much of a gap.

The white Scud here has the same gap that's too wide. My yellow one has no gap.

Glad that the rest of you guys are getting there, I am sure there is probably still an even better solution than the Ikea Diods but that will come in due course and this alone is a massive improvements, tvm Lilleprins for your brilliant thoughts
