commentary from someone in the stands at testing today: - McLaren locked wheel each time at turn 10. Appart that, it don't move at all. - Williams and Sauber pretty quick - Red Bull and Ferrari like on a railtrack The above comments are interesting although I would have much preferred to hear about what was happening at nasty turn 9. That quick right-hander is rough.
Some extremely interesting information with Webber and Massa's full race runs today Webber ------- Massa 01:29.774 ---- 01:31.409 01:29.875 ---- 01:31.021 01:30.196 ---- 01:31.654 01:31.404 ---- 01:31.407 01:32.058 ---- 01:31.550 01:32.025 ---- 01:32.125 01:32.473 ---- 01:32.141 01:33.268 ---- 01:31.583 00:00.000 ---- 01:37.390 00:00.000 ---- 01:32.492 01:27.457 ---- 01:32.521 01:27.993 ---- 01:32.624 01:28.969 ---- 01:32.800 01:29.834 ---- 01:32.990 01:30.212 ---- 01:33.893 01:30.879 ---- 01:33.967 01:31.176 ---- 01:34.406 01:31.369 ---- 00:00.000 01:31.957 ---- 00:00.000 01:32.406 ---- 01:29.289 01:32.636 ---- 01:28.639 01:33.251 ---- 01:33.876 01:33.639 ---- 01:29.749 00:00.000 ---- 01:30.024 00:00.000 ---- 01:30.092 01:29.941 ---- 01:30.018 01:29.678 ---- 01:29.991 01:29.853 ---- 01:30.178 01:30.345 ---- 01:30.287 01:30.818 ---- 01:30.345 01:30.246 ---- 01:30.758 01:30.864 ---- 01:31.459 01:30.431 ---- 01:31.874 01:30.600 ---- 01:32.471 01:30.770 ---- 00:00.000 01:30.613 ---- 00:00.000 01:32.648 ---- 01:28.227 01:31.842 ---- 01:36.578 01:31.337 ---- 01:27.835 01:31.140 ---- 01:28.118 01:32.396 ---- 01:28.302 01:32.545 ---- 01:28.702 01:32.364 ---- 01:29.071 01:33.610 ---- 01:28.947 01:33.249 ---- 01:28.981 00:00.000 ---- 01:29.302 00:00.000 ---- 01:29.288 01:24.995 ---- 01:29.495 01:28.324 ---- 01:29.966 01:29.115 ---- 01:30.148 01:28.402 ---- 00:00.000 01:28.341 ---- 00:00.000 01:28.375 ---- 01:31.551 01:29.036 ---- 01:26.508 01:28.564 ---- 01:26.990 01:29.046 ---- 01:31.452 01:29.465 ---- 01:27.358 01:28.664 ---- 01:27.465 01:29.138 ---- 01:27.665 01:32.022 ---- 01:28.348 01:29.261 ---- 01:28.473 01:30.155 ---- 01:28.962 01:29.862 ---- 01:32.195 01:30.341 ---- 01:28.080 01:30.752 ---- 01:28.140 00:00.000 ---- 00:00.000 1:29:01.999 vs 1:29:01.170 yeah, it's that close.
And the rumors are are about MB and their KERS system. They have pretty much been running without it. COnfirmed by Haug today. I suspect cooling issues. Still, they're pretty quick without it.

I'm sure their new sidepods will address the issue. I can't imagine they would even consider running how they have it now with the giant slots cut in the top of them.
Hah. NO idea although I suspect hards or mediums due to the times not taking a significant dive after the first lap.
And in the start. On some tracks i think you gained something like 75m or so. I don´t know how you can gain 75m but that´s what i remember.
Thanks for the details mate. I fully appreciate someone like you posting away lots of information like this. Cheers.
AFAIK KERS is effective when the car has enough downforce on it, from when it was introduced, I thought it would only kick in when the car was doing over 100 Kph. From a standing start, not effective. However I stand to be corrected now in 2011 on this.
Yea that´s why Brawn GP and Red Bull were so nervous at starts They knew they needed to get the perfect start to even have a chance of keeping the guys behind them. The bit that´s really interesting though is like you say, using it as a defensive weapon. We saw some of it in 09 when both guys pulled the KERS at the same time effectively keeping the guy behind. That´s why i don´t really care about the KERS system because they will cancel each other out since everybody know has it. But i guess that´s what the rear wing is for. If it will infact do the job they think. I
KERS has a distinct advantage at starts aswell. You have alot more horsepower then the rest. And this was in 09. And a number of team principals including Christian Horner can vouch for this. It´s the same system as in 11 as in 09.
Off the line for a few tenths. Then everybody without KERS will get overtaking easy before turn 1. Honestly i´m not making this up m8, KERS have a distinct advantage at starts. I think it was Horner who said it could be up to as much as 75m at some tracks.
Rosberg: The only downside to KERS in 09 was the extra weight. Now that´s cleared up so the ones without KERS this year is not in a very good position.
Yes no worries, I'am sure your right I read what I posted way back in 09 I think, when it was introduced, advantage 2 cars lengths. And low and behold Brawn blew everyone off without KERS, I'am all for it to be honest. Any team can buy a KERS unit AFAIK from any team that wishes to sell them one, for a set price I think, not sure what that is though.
yup, have no idea though which team sells. It´s a bit late to buy KERS systems now though. It must be incorporated as the design the car. Ferrari i think even put their system inside the fuel tank.
Pretty much everyone running KERS has the battery pack mounted below the fuel tank in some clever way. Word is the MB kers unit has been on and off so they can know what is working cooling-wise and what isn't.
Interesting graphics on Pirelli tire fall off compared to last years Stones. http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2011/02/f1-test-analysis-a-couple-of-graphs-to-get-you-thinking/
Very interesting. The previous Bridgestone tires are being listed as 'too good' which is possibly correct, but they fail to mention that Pirelli is operating at the behest of the Fia's wishes to make tyres fall off more quickly.
