I'm a fan! Very cool looking car.
To me this looks like a car where you'll see photos and think "looks pretty cool". Then you'll see it in the metal and think "omfg awesome". Lamborghini has done justice by my childish mind.

Bummer to those who bought a Revention. Can anyonen who is good with PS line up the Revention/Aventador side profiles?
I didn't make this, got it off another forum, made by Lunch Money... http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb164/ApexOversteer/Pics.jpg
IMO both the M and the R look a lot better. Mechanically it's pretty cool but I don't understand why it still weighs so much considering it's carbon tub. In January Lambo sold 16 cars in the US vs Ferrari's 130. Lambo really needs a home run sales wise. We shall see...
http://www.gtspirit.com/2011/02/24/third-and-fourth-picture-lamborghini-lp700-4-aventador/?pid=23608&show=2177 Well I think we all can be quite satisfied?! It looks stunning from sideview and we still haven't seen it behind. It keeps Lamborghini's strong agressive styling, differences a big way from Ferrari's and other supercar manufacturers; and when we remember it's lighter, more porwerfull and it has V12; I think the target has come true.
Don't you think that is a little unfair? Just a tiny bit? I mean, in January, Lamborghini had one model line you could walk in and buy, the Gallardo, while Ferrari had the California, the 599 and the brand-new-gotta-have-it 458. Not to mention that Ferrari has always produced and sold more cars.
Numbers are numbers. YOY Lambo's were down and Ferrari's were up. VW bought Lambo and pumped in billions to raise productive capacity IMO that money is gone forever. How can US Lambo dealers survive on Lambo's US sales? The one in Greenwich, Conn. folded. Greenwich, Conn...
Another way to look at it is fewer the numbers sold by a manufacturer, more exclusive is the ownership experience for those the buy and drive those cars...
Good comparo for the people that feel its not a real change. You can clearly see the Diablo influence in the beltline and the Countach influence on the rear. Its far more aggressive than the Murci and thats pretty damn aggressive. On the street this thing is going to look wicked bad ass.
While it may not be quite as radical and groundbreaking as some might have hoped... to me it is more provacative than the direction Ferrari is taking. The FF Station wagon is an anti-stimulant for me. JMO
I used to hang around the beverly hills dealer and even that was really slow. Part of it was due to the recession though.
No question about that. The part I really don't understand is the Audi version. That has to hurt G sales. Also Audi gets to race their version which builds sales in Europe yet no Lambo factory G's race at the Ring for example. Go figure.
Lambo has somehow managed to survive 40+ years as a supercar manufacturer with almost zero racing history. I'm still not sure how, but they have.... so I don't think the R8 being raced and the G not being raced really makes a difference. as to the Aventador, the Murci/Reventon/Aventador side shot comparo does help. I'm still not sold on the new car (a bit too derivative to me) but I do like, as Jerry points out, the Diablo/Countach cues. also, is the correct pronounciation "A vent a door"?
I for one would not want to own a NEW car Dealership of ANY brand in today's market, regardless if they sold 16 or 130 cars in a month... There really is just no money in new cars..with a very very few exceptions..I rather Deal with the tried and proven "used" cars, focus on making sure each and every customer is happy and a guarantee to return for many years of return business and satidfaction. YOU just cant sustain a business for 20 plus years by having "Onesey" sales..you NEED to build a trusted customer base for your product season after season...and as much as I love the Lamborghini Brand..I just DONT see that being done by the Factory and sure as heck not by the majority of the New Car "Authorized" Dealers out there. As an example, IMO, the Factory allowed "orders" for these cars from anyone with $50K to put down..which is good and they need the sales.. BUT maybe, JUST maybe..that method should have come 1 month AFTER these cars were FIRST offered to "returning" Lamborghini customers..at MSRP with no mark up..then release to the rest of the world..at least to me..that is Company to Customer loyalty..
Agreed on the customer loyalty. Re: New car dealers in general.. isn't it true that they make their profit on parts/service and very little on actual new sales?
I cant say for sure for all..but I can say that if it was NOT for their Service and Parts Depts keeping their lights on..I dont think the showroom would exsist.
I think this reinforces my point! Not sure of the numbers but Gallardo is the highest selling Lambo in history! Its volume makes it less exclusive. Not sure of the 430 numbers but the 430 was in production from 05-10. The G was introduced in 03 model year and is still going. My point was not about Ferrari vs. Lambo, it was about lower numbers of any car generally (not always) make them more exclusive. There are exceptions - example 1985 Yugo!
