i am 5ft 6 inches and can only just fully depress the clutch pedal in my 88 1/2 countach

i have put up with this for the last 11 years , but am wondering if it is possible to move the seat forward past its normal adjustment point by moving the whole seat forward
has anyone done this before , and if so how does one go about it?

i have also heard the unlikely story that it is possible to move the pedals towards the driver
    is this really possible ?

    thank-you for any advice

The seat can be moved, and bolted to the floor.

Try sliding down in the seat and putting a few towels behind your back ?

i have been using a small lumbar cushion for the last 11 years , and this helps a lot , but if i could just move the seat about 3 inches forward it would make driving more pleasurable

how does one go about removing the seat , and how do you reattach the seat runners once you have moved them forwards?
do you have to drill new holes in the cockpit floor?

I would talk to a mechanic. If he finds it difficult to fix, you may want to talk to one of the more experienced shops, that have worked on Countach autos. I cannot imagine, it is a difficult task to accomplish. Perhaps the seat rails, can be modified or replaced ?

I imagine a few Countach owners who stand over 6' 3," are calling out all kinds of four letter words, after reading your thread. Just like yourself, I say make them even more compact :D.

Real simple, just located the nut/bolt under the car and undo it.
There are just 4 bolts/nuts per seat, no big deal.

Yes Countachs were built for short italians, just like me.

I find having the seat all the way forward is perfect for me.
    I am also 5'6"

    dear chadbourn,

thanks for this---i really appreciate this info

please could you describe the process in more detail:

    1) are the 4 bolts accessed from underneath the car?

    2) having undone the 4 bolts , does this free the seat runners OR the seats themselves?

    3) do you have to drill the floor to make new holes , so that the 4 bolts can then be repositioned in a more forward position?

I cant answer the details but I would have thought that a metal fabricator could make some lond brackets using the original holes rather than drilling new ones. Bear in mind any mod will have to be strong as ****.

Bet when you do it, you wish you had done it 11 years ago :)

    1. Yes, no need even to lift the car (13mm socket if remember right)

For question number 2. and 3. are anwsered when you get seat out of the car

If I would be you, I would not make new holes to the car or seat. I would make brakets from flat steel (or aluminium) and weld bolts to it so it would fit car and couple nut so I could use original holes in seat.

edit: Yes, just like "mattymouse33" wrote
