Yes there needs to be a MV reunion!!! Too bad they mucked up that MV movie with Colin Farell a few years ago. They should have just used the original cast.
"Should I be writing this down?" - lol Like many of you I was 16/17 when MV started and it made a great impression on me. Not the clothes, but definitely the music and the cars. Some of my most memorable musical moments: Dires Straits - Brothers in Arms (Out Where the Buses Don't Run) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6iK-oUDyrM Russ Ballard - Voices (Calderones Return) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbyblmkyl54 The Damned - In Dulce Decorum (Walk Alone) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi5h9Di_lx4 Simply Red - Picture Book (The Good Collar) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2EqpZatEyM ...and one I really wish I could find on YouTube is Jesus and Mary Chain's Nine Million Rainy Days from the episode God's Work. Incredible.
Here's the Testarossa (and the occasional Pantera) in Season 3, including initially in black: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO3lFQg7xLw&fmt=18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4umVudYwSsg&fmt=18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl0onIqXDU4&fmt=18
they just should have not used colin farell.....LOL ....amazing how much better the show seemed when originally watched, but saying that, it has aged far better then most shows of that same period
With all the hard acceleration and wheel spining in MV...Did Sonny had the diff problem??? Would Sonny had dealt with Newman? Mmmm....I wonder...(Scratching my chin, one eye closed, the other staring at the ceiling)....Can someone help me on that one?
Good question.....I would think the Pantera they used was put through the paces, whereas the real TR was probably used for the speeding shots, etc.
Great question...also makes me wonder what kind of maintenance schedule they followed. Did they do the oil pump update? When did they do the belts? Did that thing have the 16" tires or the metric jobbies? Haha! Great stuff. My personal favorite scene in the whole series is from the episode "Bought and Paid For" when Crockett chases the dirtbag in the white Countach. If you watch closely, it's actually two different Countaches they use in the sequence - one with Euro bumpers and one with the US bumpers. Sort of like in the beginning of Beverly Hills Cop II with some scenes being a red 308 and others a 328. But I digress. As usual... Cheers, Neil
Also, Bad Boys II, where they used both a Ferrari 550 Maranello AND a 575M. Then, in the movie Speed Zone (the 3rd Cannonball Run movie), one Countach was real and another was a replica. That one is obvious as to why they did that - the stunts. Chris
And over dubbed the sound with a Ferrari 355 in the long chase scene! And back to MV, great music especially the Dire Straits stuff, very moody, as I remember it was one of the first shows to really use up to date music as a major part of the show.
OK now let's see what would've happened: Sonny runs into Castillo's office. Sonny: Need to talk to you. Castillo: I'm busy Sonny: Yeah, but this one can't wait! Castillo: What now? Sonny: I'm in need of a major! Castillo: What? I'm your lieutenant, ain't that enough? Tubbs get into the office after hearing voices getting a little more high pitched Tubbs: What's up? Sonny (looking desperate): I need a major. Tubbs: I taught you were straight? Castillo: No, I think what he's saying is that he needs something new to keep in synch... Sonny: You guys don't get do you? I need a major, new belts? Castillo: Ho! Then go to HR and get a form for training, last thing I know you're brown belt in karate. You want to go to black? Tubbs: Hey, if he can get a new black belt I want one also. I mean last time I had mine was 5 years ago, I'm ready for a new one. Sonny: Are you guys nuts? What I mean is that I new to change a lot of stuff, I need to change all my fluids also!! Tubbs and Castillo: HHHOOOO!!! Now we get it! Castillo: I told you a million time, don't f*ck the payroll. Major Adam is a hotty but don't scr*w with her, when you start in those thing you don't know what's gonna happen. You know while we're at it...and then it's all downhill. Big mess, big dollars, change this, change that. You'll finish all cleaned out... Ok now who can continue this captivating episode titled: Sonny gets the big one!
François, you got me in the mood! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sonny gets the big one part II Sonny and Tubbs in the TR eating fast-food while watching a bunch of F-pimps trading parts for gazillions of dollars while young hot chicks are besides them... Sonny: Geez look at that pump Tubbs: Ya mean pimp, man Sonny: No the pump, look at that pump, almost new, wonder if it's redone or simply used..but sure looks good. Think that Harry my mecanics told me he needs one for the major. Tubbs: Oh!...so? Sonny: Showtime! Tubbs: What??? Lieutenant said to stay put, take notes and make no arrest Sonny: The h*ll with him I need to lay my hands on that pimp..I mean that pump. Stay here I'll do myself. Tubs: Well you know that when you Do It Yourself you might need to be able to have access to an F-pimp once in a while cuz if you don't you might get stranded with a big case on your hands and... Sonny: Shut up Tubbs! Don't you know that when you stumble on the best money can buy with low mileage you gotta get it cuz like they say there ain't no cheap for Harry... Tubbs: Huh? Sonny: Never mind! Where are we? I'm calling for backups. Tubbs: What for? Sonny: Well there's a lot of people to arrest. Don't you recognize all those guys from the mafia that are trying to sell parts and cars that don't exist? Tubbs: You're right. Call the HQ and tell them that we're close to the beach by the bay. Sonny: What bay? Tubbs: E-Bay. To be continued by someone else...
Good call, the scene of the series finale! "I'm going to go and kick back someplace where the water is warm and the drinks are cold" I believe was the line... Cheers.
"Further south, where the water's warm and the drinks are cold, and where I don't know the names of the players." "Can I offer you a ride to the airport? ....in my stolen car."
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl0onIqXDU4&fmt=18[/ame] in the vid, at 3:20 shows the pantera (polished deep-set wheels, more square tail) for action shot, then at 3:55 shows the real Testarossa for close-up, then switches back 4:30 again to pantera for driving sequence ...at 2:41 shows him doing a little burn-out in the real Testarossa....so i'm guessing there must have been a fair amount of ongoing maintenance required on both the Testarossa's too!
Thank you for posting that! I always wondered what scenes they used with the Pantera, now I can identify it better! Chris
Ok I just watched "Stone's War," and I have been wondering this for a while: What kind of car did they use to overdub the sound when Crockett first gets his hands on the Testarossa? He didn't even start the car, and a stock Testarossa isn't that loud. It happens around 1:16 in the following video: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMfbMoJnY5g[/ame] It sounds EXACTLY like the Countach used in the following clip. However, the Countaches I've heard had a much deeper roar than what I'm hearing here. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU964Wtmkkc[/ame] Chris
^^^ good question....either it's just studio sound bites that where on file, or somewhere i read that it might have been michael mann's own ferrari (328?)
If the sound you can hear in the second clip is indeed the sound of this Countach, then yep... it was dubbed with a Countach... this would really be a painful realization! Well, regardless, it's not going to stop me from watching this clip again, and again, and again... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3f3uv6MzRg[/ame]
If you were about 8yrs old when this show came out and need to update the CD stacker, check the Cure & Cause remix of the track (from a few years back now, dated by the white-noise builds and fades overused in 2009-2010) Do not advise searching for it if you were already over 20 when the show came out, as the generation gap in the music is going to make you hate this post.
I know that Crocket's car had a tan interior, but I was wondering about the dashboard. Is it black or brown like so many Testarossas of that period? Thanks, Andy
