Today I am supposed to pick up an 03 360, 6 speed, 28k miles, fully serviced at dealer for 72k. Not my favorite color but very nice, limited options such as manual seats. Car is 8.5/10.

Anything I should be looking for? Thoughts?

Push me over the edge please.

If it is not your favorite color why are you buying it? Wait and get what you want, the chase if half the fun.

Your asking this on the day of the purchase/pickup? If you haven't already you need to get a PPI.

I like the color grigio alloy but man the red looks so nice. The ppi was done by the dealer and the car checksnout fine. All of the service for the last 5 years has been at this dealer and well documented.

I was thinking to buy this and drive for a couple of months and maybe step up to a 430 next year. This would give me some fun for the summer while I look for a 430.

Serviced at an authorized Ferrari dealer? You're not giving us much information here. What does "fully serviced" mean? Belt service?

There's tons of things to look for.

    Body damage
    Service history
    Brake and clutch wear
    Suspension wear
    Normal operation of all systems
    Transmission operation
    Leaks
    Tire condition
    Modifications made from factory specs
    Emissions
    Books, tools, and key fobs.

Only someone who is qualified to understand what to look for can tell you this. There isn't much we can help with from simply posting on the Internet.

Go for the F430 now, it seems like your budget allows it from what you said. There are just as many examples to buy and plenty of red ones.

No paint work per paint meter and visual inspection, brakes are 70%, clutch feels fine, everything in the car appears to work. I don't know about the suspension. No visible leaks, the car is very clean. Some slight curb rash under the front spoiler but minimal. Tires are new. This certainly isn't as easy as buying a 911 :).

No mods, all books, tools still in plastic, all key + security fob, basically a complete package.

I'd reserve this car for someone who loves this color & wait to find the right 430 since that's what you seem to really want.

Drive the Grigio Alloy in sun and in the evening in some artificial light and you may change your mind on the color. There are so many in red around. Let someone who loves GrigioAlloy drive...and those people do exist

I agree with the others. Get what you want and don't settle. You can wait a few months for the right car and as said above, the chase is half the fun...

If its just to have fun and tide you over then go for it. You will be inside the car so color does not matter since the driving experience is where it is all at...to me at least.

If it was a keeper then you really need to get the exact car you can live with. Advice from one obsessive/compulsive to another :D ........Steve

Prefer to wait? Are you worried that you'll never make the additional $50k and you don't want to pass up the opportunity to buy this particular car, which to you appears to be in good shape?

I understand the temptation to buy this car, but a year is really not that much longer to wait to get exactly what you want.

The most important decisions are the toughest ones. F it, I am going to buy something today. I will post results and pic's. My feeling is that I will enjoy the car for what it is.

    I love grigio alloy.

I just went through the agony (anyone who says this is fun is a masochist) of finding a 360. and based on what I saw if the car is as you describe it is a very good deal.

What color is interior? I found that cars with red or blue interiors sat on the market longer.

Daytona seats are a big plus and worth a lot.

    Good luck!

Personally - at 62 years of age, another year would be a VERY long time to wait.

    Sieze the day.

Done deal take it home on Monday. I will post pics when I get a chance. Drove it again, very strong car. Felt great, looks great not too worried about miles. The color.looks much better outside in the sun.

I do think it needs a wheel upgrade and some fake shields. Got a beat on some 430 wheels. Maybe an exhaust.

You are going to get slaughtered on sales tax doing that. If you want the 430, get that or wait.

Edit, I see you pulled the trigger already. Seems wierd to me you would have a problem spending $50k more on the car you want now, but are ok with a sunk cost of sales tax that could total $15k+ in two years. Regardless, I am sure you will be happy in either. Enjoy!

Whatever you do don't buy a grigio alloy car! Its such a girl's color!

:D Just kidding! I love grigio alloy. It looks different in different lights. Congrats for making your dreams happen. And make sure you drive that thing.

When I go into my garage to leave the house, I take a look at what to drive and more times than no I pick a Ferrari. I always figure, I could die tomorrow....... do I want my last drive to be in something boring?

Since you are in Vegas, I want to see you with a helmet and at the Virginia City Hillclimb!

    Have fun and be safe!

Actually I will register to my second house in DE to avoid pp tax, sales tax is only 3% and you only pay the net differencen on the next car, similar to FL.

VA pp tax is a nightmare they use NADA which is not reflective of market. For example they claim my 08 escalade appreciated 30% in one year, complete BS.

I saw the car there when I bought my 430 and I thought it was a beautiful car, looks like new! I think you can have a lot of fun for that price and FOW is really good at keeping getting their cars serviced to date before selling them.
