Hello to all. I currently own a 2009 Maserati Granturismo S. It is Grigio Granito with red interior, F1 MCshift (similar to the 599), carbon fibre mirrors and paddles. I love the car but I am getting the itch, and I am thinking of trading it in for an F430. I am looking at 2006/2007's. I love the Maser, it looks great, sounds great, but a used F430 seems like a really good proposition right now.

Anyone have any thoughts? Anyone driven both? I only do a very few number of track days so the car will be mostly for weekend use, going out for dinner, etc.

If the Maserati was scratching your itch you would not be here asking such a question. Go out and drive an F430 only you will know if it feels good. I know what I like........F430 and then onto F458........Steve

i have the Maserati coupe, and a Ferrari, albeit both are previous generation cars (02 Coupe GT 6 speed and a 99 360 F1). For the price of the 430....I chose to own the earlier vintages of both cars.

The Ferrari always makes a scene, and as good as the F1 is after the tcu upgrade....I do need to occasionally go into the city, hand it over to the valet, or drive it through potholes. The Maserati is the better car here, with the ability to drop off both kids at school in the morning, and it is an easier car to maneuver in tight spaces and see out of. You are also going to miss the instant torque of the Maserati. The Ferrari V8 needs to wound out, so anything beyond moderate speed is an event, particularly with a Tubi.

No comparison on the handling. Even the GranTurismo is a pig with all the weight up front. The 430 will feel telepathic in comparison.

    Good luck with the hunt.

Thanks for the replies. I also have an 10 carrera 4 cab that is my daily driver. One thing I will miss with the F430 is the modern electronics, Bluetooth, nav etc. Are after market any good?

One option is to put in an order for a 458, but used F430s seem like such good value right now, with a 430 half the price of a new 458. I have the cash for a 458, but it's hard for me to justify (to my wife) $ 300 000 for a car.

You can get BT in an F430 if the radio was ordered with it as well as nav. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. Yes the F430 is cheap but not really the primary reason to buy one.

The F458 is a whole nother car over the F430. Get your butt out to a dealer and drive.

Since money is not an issue, based on your above comment, and there is no financial justification for a Ferrari anyway. Get what you want!!!!!!

I have an F430 and am going to order an F458 just because I can. And I also have a Wife who will be very mad but I don't really care. She won't leave me over it......Steve

We have both cars and I rarely drive the Maserati (maybe once in 30-45 days). I just don't like the seating position and it's just not fast enough for me. I love the way the F430 drives and it just fits me much better.

My wife loves the Maserati because it fits her life style when she has the kids. If she doesn't have the kids, she drives our Ford GT more than the F430. She likes to shift the FGT and the F430 has an F1 tranny.

Drive an F430 and you'll know if you want it over the GTS.

    Good luck

I owned a 430 and a Gran Turismo and etc. I guess I would say to myself you have a 2010 997 cab, you live in Canada (not exactly a year round convertable area, and 997's have a fairly useless back seat (my 6 years olds have barely enough room. The GT is a beautiful car (I sold mine after my marraige was over it was one of the cars she drove) and I still regret it, it had a great enginr sound a real backseat and it was a nice cruising car (though I must agree the seats were not that great), though it is a GT car not a sports car. Do not take this the wrong way but when I hear people talk about the electronics and conveniences when talking about a sports car like the 430, I say you're probably not going to like driving one, since to really enjoy the car, and the money you spent on it you need to keep both hands on the wheel (unless it is a gearshift car then you need to take one of for a few seconds to shift) your mind on driving and your thoughts on when to brake, when to shift and when to push that right pedal. I might be old school but I remove the electronics when I buy a car they annoy the piss out of me.
