Looking at your profile it says you owned an M3.

Here's a test for you, take a bunch of pictures ranging from the E30 M3 and 3 series all the way to the E9x M3 and 3 series. Ask normal, non car people to ask if the new cars are 'completely different' (what you seem to be getting so upset about) to the older models.

You don't like it, fine. You gave your opinion (with invalid statements, but whatever), but I don't see your point. Are you trying to convince us, the ones who DO like the car, that we shouldn't like it?

Are the other 'haters' on this thread doing something of the same, or trying to convince us that Ferrari is better because 'round a track' it's much quicker. Newsflash ladies, people buy cars for different reasons than you may do.

2 things that really impress me about this car:

    a) The engine is more powerful than the outgoing Murcielago engine, but at the same time it's more fuel efficient

    and

    b) I think the curb weight is lower than the standard Murcielago LP640. Not sure how it compares to the 670-SV in terms of weight though...

On the whole, I think the car is stunning. The only (minor) critique I have are the Gallardo-derived mirrors -- I wish they had kept the Murcielago mirrors, they looked more streamlined.

    LOL at the contradiction.

That car wasn't any different from the Diablo 6.0 than the Aventador is from the Murcielago.

the car is (or at least should be) lighter than the 670 SV
it is more powerfull and it is so much more advanced it should run circles around the last murcielago

i cannot wait to see tests and expecially lap times for the aventador...i think it will be a SERIOUS performer

You seem to have a habit of trying to pull rank in certain situations so I suppose I need to add my C.V. before my point: 30 years as artist, designer, art director, creative director of advertising agency, GCI artist, illustrator, multi award winner, contributor to several 'how to...' books across the disciplines. And yes, I too am a tattooed artist (as you once described yourself by way of qualification).

I'm afraid if you think this is just a matter of "styling cues" you need to get that trained eye of yours looked at. (Note, to better illustrate the point I've cropped the one area of difference, swapped wheels and matched roof colours.)

Stunning looking car, but let's not pretend it's something it isn't. If this had been presented scaled down a little and without the trick doors as the Gallardo replacement no-one would be asking questions.

this one goes up for the "experts designers" who just noticed that cars are meant to look like their older brothers

    1974 Countach next to a 2008 Reventon

    34 years in the making

Would someone please post it here in this forum

P.S. by the way this thread should be merged with the main AVENTADOR one

Too funny! I would add that not every car company follows the Hyundia model of completely reinventing the design of their cars every few years. That's weak branding.

I think the Aventador is stunning, BTW.

Interesting to see those two head on. Don't know what the stats are but the newer car doesn't look a whole lot wider than the old. In 1974 the Countach must have seemed a mile wide. The current big Lambo is still enormous, side to side, even in an age when we've gotten used to bigger cars in general. In '74 when the average car on the road was much smaller the Countach must have seemed like it was going to completely block the road.

I remeber reading road tests on British car magazines in the late seveties and eighties as a kid and they all said the Countach was so wide (on British roads) that they were difficult to drive and park!

Thanks for confirming what Ive been saying

Lamborghini follows a design vocabulary where they keep a consistent silhouette and beltline.

Do you think it looks like a Firebird ?

Its really growing on me in the color Arancio Argos, even if i find the stelth look from the Reventon a bit childish. The Roof of the Aventador is the best “styling” part of the car imo, and the front bonet and lights the worst part.

No I don't. But then I didn't mention the Firebird. As I mentioned only the Gallardo it should be obvious that I was challenging your statement "Whats not subjective is if it looks like a Gallardo or not. Fact: it doesnt." And on that note there's a big difference between establishing and using a 'design vocabulary' and tweaking an existing design. This is more than simply silhouette and beltline - practically the only distinction between these cars' profiles is the V12's need for greater ventilation.

Still a fantastic looking car, though. I'm definitely lusting!
